City Council met in regular session - Mayor.L. F. Sinsheimer presiding.
Present: J. B. Berkemeyer, R. P. Howell, .Joseph Leary, L. F. Sinsheimer
Absent: L. J. Defosset.
The minutes of May 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 10th, 12th and 13th were read and
approved as read.
City Attorney directed to prepare a Resolution for the acceptance of a
deed from Southern Pacific Company for Lot 15, Block -19, Buena-Vista Addition.
It was 41oved by J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell and carried
that the Council recess in order that the incoming Councilmen may take their seats.
The incoming Councilmen take their seats and Mayor Fred C. Kimball asked
for roll call:
Present: A.H. Brazil, R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Fred C. Kimball, Joseph Leary
Absent: None
The Official Bond of Callie M. John, City Clerk was presented and approved
by Mayor Fred C. Kimball,
The Council now proceeded to organize as a new Council:-
For Commissioner of Public Works, R. P. Howell was placed in nomination by Joseph Leary,
seconded by W. H. Brazil:

R. P. Howell was unanimously elected, and so declared, Commissioner of Public Works.
For Commissioner of Public Health and Safety - W. H. Brazil was placed in nomination
by R..P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary.

W. H. Brazil was unanimously elected and so declared Commissioner of Public Health and

cations for permit to build were granted:

On motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the following appli-
cations for permit to lay sidewalk and curbing were referred to the Commissioner of Public
Works for report to the Council:
Leroy Persson - 96 ft. of 8 ft. sidewalk and curbing on the north side of Pismo
St. between Osos St. and Santa Rosa St,
Joe S. & Mary S. Mello - 45 ft. of 8 ft. sidewalk on the north side of Pismo St.
etween Osos St..and Santa Rosa St.
Application of A. E. Chase for permit to ramp 43 ft. of sidewalk area for
driveway at 720 Islay Street, and the application of L. A. Gragg for permit to construct
a Septic Tank and tile drain for disposal of water from Laundry Trays at residence at
457 Pismo Street, were referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation
and report to the Council.
Application of Modern Neon Sign Co. for permit to erect a neon sign at 1050
Monterey Street for R & R Coffee Shop,referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and
:Safety for investigation and report. to the Council.
Petition of Dwight W. Curtis, Principal of Emerson School, requesting permit
to use streets of the business section of the City for the schools Annual Circus Parade
on Saturday, May 27th at 10 o'clock Jle# M,, was presented, Matter discussed and it was
moved by R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil and carried that the Petition be granted
with the provision that said circus parade be carried out under the supervision of the
Commissioner of Public Health and Safety and the Police Department,
