Kennedy and Joseph Leary, a Committee, to look into the matter in conjunction with the Chief of Police and W. L. Payton, and report to Council at the next meeting. Resolution No. 427 (New Series) A Resolution authorizing and directing that an application be made to the State Board of Health for a permit to dispose of settled sewage'to William H. Negano property, was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil by the following vote: Ayes: W.H. Brazil, R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Fred 0. Brazil,'the meeting adjourned,, Approved this day of 1939 Q4�1 City Clerk Mayor City Hall, Monday, June 19th 1939 - 7 :30 P.M. City Council met in regular session - Mayor Fred C. Kimball presiding. Present : W.H. Brazil, R.P.Howell,Ralph.C.Kennedy,Fred C.Kimball,Joseph Leary. Absent : None. The minutes of June 5th and 12th were read and approved as read. Application of Estate of Elizabeth Nelson, by Alice Harper, Executrix, for permi to recess curb and ramp sidewalk for a 10 ft driveway on the west-side of Santa Rosa Street between Monterey Street and Palm Street referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report to the Council. Petition of 31la M. Maino for permit to remove a tree from park area of sidewalk on Essex Street near Marsh Street received. Commissioner of Public Works who had made investigation reported favorably on the petition and on his motion seconded by W.H.Brazil the petition was granted. R.P.Davis petitioned the Council for permit to remove two Acacia Trees on Essex Street between Pismo Street and Buchon Street; On motion of Joseph Leary seconded by W.H.Brazil the matter was referred to Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and power to act,. Petition of J.H.Kirk, by H.C.Kinsman, requesting that a water main be installed on what is known as and called Caudill Street from its intersection with Broad Street to its intersection with Lawton Street was referred, on motion of Joseph Leary seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, to the Department of Public Works for investigation and report. Re: cooperative work--Fire Protection - Los Padres Forest Service Letter recei from S.A.Nash- Boulden, Forest Supervisor, requesting contribution. It was moved by C. Kennedy seconded by W.H.Brazil and unanimously carried on roll call vote, that 100.00 be appropriated from the City Water Fund, to be applied on salary of Patrolman for San Luis Obispo "later Shed for the summer season of 1939. Clerk authorized to draw warramt. 396 Application of Bradbury and Worthington., by E.R.Bradbury, for registration as lass " E " Contractor , together with U.S.Fidelity and Guaranty Company Bond in the amoun $ 500.00 and registration fee of $ 15.00 received, and on motion of R.P.Howell seconded Joseph Leary it was ordered that the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration nted. The report of the City Clerk for the month of May 1939 received and ordered a file. Applicationsfor the quarterly licenses were presented and referred to the ommissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council. The following atters were continued for further report: g pplication of Cery Arcaina for license for Soft Drinks at 834 Palm Street; etition of Vernon Porter for fire hydrant at Murray Ave. and Kentucky Street; etition of Tom H. McGrath et al for miniature Golf Course. Application of R. Leal for permit to open trench to connect with sewer on High treet.between Cypress Street. and Beebee Street granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded y Ralph C. Kennedy with the provision that work be done under supervision of the City neer. Petition of A. J. Vermazen re: removal of certain trees at 1178 Pacific Street tinued for further report from Commissioner R. P. Howell as to estimated cost of re- of said trees and whether they would be removed by private parties at no cost to ity in return for wood. Petition of Neon Sales and Service, by E. M. Andrez, for permit to hang a neon ign at 723 Higuera Street for Delight Bakery granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded y R. P. Howell with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City ngineer. Communication of H. C. Kinsman et al relative to transferring a certain strip 1 f property known as, and called Caudill Street, to the City of San Luis Obispo for Street urposes ordered placed on file on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by W. H. Brazil, Re: New location for City Dump: Mayor appointed a Committee:- R. P. Howell, hairman, with Commissioner Ralph C. Kennedy to get in touch with Board of Health and ring back report to Council. Communication of San Luis Garbage Company re: disposal of garbage etc. laid over or report from Commissioner of Finance. Commissioner R. P. Howell made report on conference with Chamber of Commerce nd American Legion re: "Clean Up 'Meek ", and designated June 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th and 30t s time for such activity. The Commissioner was directed to carry out plan. On motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell it was ordered that the alary:of John H. Gill, Fireman, be raised to $140.00 per month to become effective my 19 1939. The motion carried. Re: Autos for Police Department: It was moved by W. H. Brazil, seconded by alph C.,Kennedy that two Chevrolet Master 85 Sport Sedans be purchased from J.J.Dunne o. at a lcost of $1000.00.,($500.00 each) including sales tax, to be paid for on a rental basis of $250.00 per month per car.
