City Council met in adjourned session - c,iayor ie. C. Kimball presiding.
Present: W.H.Brazil, R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary
Absent: None
The following applications for permit to build here granted on motion of R.
P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. T_ ennedy:
John Melin - Residence & Garage, Lot 18, Blk 7, Southside Addn. Cost 31000.00
Clifford McBride - Residence & Garage, Lot 2,' Resubs Blk 151 Harford Addn. 2,700.00
Mildred syaterman - Three Stall Garage with apartment, Blk 60, Cost 1,500.00
Bertha Smith - Garage, Part Lot 4, Blk 4, Hathway Addn. 125.00
On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the applications of
Nilliam Shepherd for licenses for Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideline at 1023 Morro Street
were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report
to the Council.
Applications of ?. H. Russell for licenses for Lunch Counter, Soft Drinks
and Cigars Sideline at 562 Higuera Street were referred to the Commissioner of Public
Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council on motion of R. F. Howell,
seconded by W.H. Brazil.
Application of Emerson Electric, by E. L. Emerson, for permit to move a Neon
Sign from 785 Marsh Street to 447 Higue:•a Street and install, also, to hang a single face
neon Sign at the same location was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safet
for report, on motion duly seconded and carried.
Petition of J. M. -orenson for the establishment of center line of Fixlini
Street from Lizzie Street to the southeasterly end of Fixlini Street and place monuments
was referred, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil to the City Engineer
and the City I_ttorney with pop- -r to act.
Application of John E. Smee for registration as Class "E" Contractor, togethe
with Fireman's Fund Indemnity Company Bond in the amount of $500.00 and registration fee o
015.00 received, and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded.by V1. H. Brazil the Surety
waa accepted, Bond approved and registration granted.
In ra communication, Chas. E. Teach, Superintendent of City Schools, invited
the 1,4ayor and_City Council to attend a meeting of the Recreational Committee of the San
Luis Obispo Co- Ordinating. Council and the Board of Education, in the office of the Board
Education in the High School Building at 7:30 o'clock. P. M., January 9th, 1940, at which
time matters relative to recreational activities in the City of San Luis Obispo will be
discussed. It was moved by R. P. Howell, and seconded by W. H. Brazil that the invita-
tion be accepted and the communication placed on file. The Mayor requested the City
Attorney and the City Engineer to attend such meeting.
Report of Don V-1. Parks, Chief of Police, covering period June 1, 1939 to
December 31, 1939 was received and ordered placed on file, on motion of R. P. Howell,
seconded by W. H. Brazil.
Ordinance No. 210 (New Series) - An Ordinance Ordering the Closing up of a
portion of Park Street, in the City of San Luis Obispo and Directing the Execution of a
Deed conveying said Portion of Park Street to C. :i. Long, .Alas finally passed, on motion of
R. P. Howell, seconded by ?':T. H. Brazil by the following vote:

Application of Albert H.Rogers for license for Taxicab at 1088 Higuera Street
was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell.
