Lemos for license for Restaurant at 887 Palm Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council. Application of Armstrong and Vaucil for registration as Class "D" Contractor together with U. S. Fidelity and Guaranty Company bond in the amount of 9"1000.00 and 1 1 1 n" 1 1 1 1 I , registration fee.of $25:00 received, and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy seconded by R. P. Maino for permit to remove certain trees from Park area of sidewalk on Higuera Street between Essex Street and Johnson Street ( Mary E. Reid) property referred to the Commissioner of Public Works with power to act, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy seconded by W. H. Brazil. Application of Mary E. Reid for permit to replace 50 ft. of 4 ft. park side- walk on the north.side of Higuera Street between Essex Street and Johnson Street referred to the. Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer with power to act, on motion ddl seconded and carried. The following applications for permit to connect with the City Sewer were re- ferred•,on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy seconded by W. H..,Brazil,.to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer with power to act: Ernest Lewelling - Lincoln Street between Mission'Street and Venable Street. Mrs. M. Pricco - Mill Street between Osos Street and Morro Street. A communication from Grace Woodruff Secretary, Channel Counties Regional League, inviting the Council to attend a meeting of the said League at Santa Barbara, Wednesday, January 24th was read and ordered placed on file. Five notices were received from J. E. Barrett, County Tax Collector, giving notice of Sale of.,,property deeded to the State for delinquent taxes. Said sale to be held in the Superior Court Room, at the County Court House on the 16th day of February, 1940. Matter discussed and without objection continued to,the next meeting of the Council. A. B. Spooner and others representing Uounty Rodeo and Live Stock Association appeared and requested cooperation of the Council in securing a permanent location for holding their Annual Rodeo and Live Stock Show. Matter discussed and the Mayor appointed R. P. Howell and Joseph Leary, a committee, to work with.the organization and report its findings to the Council. On motion of W. H. Brazil seconded by R. P. Howell the applications of Dante Chiesa and Charles Joseph Gates for licenses for Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideline at 993 Higuera Street were granted. Resolution No. 489 (New Series) - A Resolution accepting a Deed from Anita M. iiathway conveying to the City of San Luis Obispo, for Street purposes, a strip of land in Hathway Addition to be known as, and called "Ellen Way" was passed and adopted on motio of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil by the following vote: Ayes: �'7.H.Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None City Attorney presented a form of contract for the disposal of garbage under Ordinance No. 208 (New Series) and the matter was discussed. It was moved by Ralph C. Kennedy seconded by R. P. Howell and carried that the contract cover a five year period. Matter further discussed and it was moved by R. P. Howell seconded by W. H. Brazil that the contract be placed on file.in the office of the City Clerk. It was then moved by W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell and carried that the City Clerk be, and she is hereby directed to advertise for bids under the said contract for Garbage Disposal -- Bids to be received up to 7:30 o'clock F. M., Monday , February 5th, 1940, and then publicly- opened and read. On motion of W. H. Brazil seconded by Joseph Leary, Jerry Richards was appointe as Assistant Fire Chief at no increase in salary. On motion of W. H. Brazil seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the meeting adjourre d. Approved this --4 day of 1940. 33
