Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F.C. Kimball, Joseph Leary 459 Absent: None The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of R. 1. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy: Wm. Cattaneo - Residence and Garage, Lot 109 Blk. 2, Imperial Addn. Cost 3300.00 E. C. Schwafel - Addition to garage, B1k. 569 Cost 1500.00 The application of Edward and Ida Harkins for permit to add to present ger:ge, p..rt of Lots 19 2 and 3, Block 19, Central Addition was referred to the Commissioner of Public '-Yorks, tA:ith pmler to act, on motion duly seconded and carried. On motion of R. P. Ho,-jell, seconded by Joseph Leary the following apnliclstions for licenses were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investi- g_tion and report to the Council: K. Tsunashima - Soft Drinks 100 Higuera Street Frank Bridger - Shooting Gallery 1030 Morro Street The petition of George Daivson for transfer of licenses for Lunch Counter and Soft Drinks at 1088 Higuera Street to Viola Scott was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation e-nd report, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconde by Ralph C..Kennedy. The applications of E. D. ?Ward for permit to recess curb and ramp 16 feet of sidewalk on the east side of Chorro Street between Marsh and Pacific Streets for drive- way for parking lot, and the application of Mrs. Chatham for permit to recess curb and ramp sidewalk 12 feet for driveway on the south side of Islay Street between Nipomo Street and Beach Street were-referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act, with further provision that if work is granted, that such work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. The application of the Model Linen Supply, by H. B. Page, for permit to hang a horizontal steel sign 3 x 8 feet at 348 Higuera Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council. The report of the City Treasurer for the month ending March 31st, 1940 and the report of the Chief of Police for the month of March were received and ordered placed on file. A communication from L. H. Gibson, District Engineer, Division of Highways, District V, approving certain streets, as set out in Resolution No. 500 (New Series) as additional streets of Major Importance was received and ordered placed on file, upon motion duly seconded and carried. Communication from George Moerman relative to placing of sign boards ordered filed. Eugene Gratton representing the Chamber of Commerce of Morro Bay invited the Council to attend a dinner to*be held at the Morro Beach Im at 7:30 P. M. , April 29th, 1940. W. W. Skinner of the Caudill Tract, appeared and requested that street lights be installed in the Caudill Tract in accordance with map presented. Matter was dis- cussed and on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell the map was received and p_lA.ced in the hands of the Commissioner of Public ':Works forreport back to the Council. The Commissioner of Public Works reported that favorable action had been taken on the application of Chas. M. Hemstreet for permit to make an addition to garage, Block 5, Weills Addition.
