On motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy it was ordered that
a sodium vapor light be installed at the intersection of Marsh and Broad Streets. Motion
carried. Joseph Leary voted "No ".
On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil the meeting adjourned to
Monday, June 10th, 1940 at 7 :30 P. M.

Application of the San Joaquin Power Division, Pacific Gas and Electric Co.
No. 268 for permit to do certain work on Lincoln Street between Chorro and Mission
Streets, more particularly set out in said application, was referred to the Commissioner
of Public Works, with power to act and report to the Council.
The report of the Police Judge for the month ending May 31st, 1940 was re-
ceived and ordered placed on file.
On motion of W. H. -Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the petition of
G. F. Muff requesting an extension of water and sewer line about 125 feet on Mt. View
Street beyond Hill Street to accommodate new residence, was referred to the Commissioner
of Public Works, with power to act.
The application of Carl E. Carlson for registration as Class "E" contractor,
together with Hartford Accident and Indemnity Co. bond in the amount of $500.00 and
regishation fee of $15.00 was received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by
W. H. Brazil the surety was'accepted, bond approved and registration granted.
Communication from C. H. Purcell, State Highway Engineer, relative to allo-
cation of gas tax funds to incorporated cities, was received and ordered placed on file.
Communication received from San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce relative to
??National Dairy Month". After discussion it wals moved by W. H. Brazil, seconded by
Ralph C. Kennedy that a proclamation be issued declaring the week of June 17th to 22nd
as "National Dairy Week ": Motion carried.
A communication from K. Z. Mansfield of the Public Relations Committee, King
City, California, extending an invitation to the City Council to attend a celebration to
be held in King City, June 15th and 16th was referred to the acting Mayor.
In a communication, the Order of the Purple Heart invited the Council to
attend a meeting of that order June 13th, 1940 at 7:30 P. M.
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil a certain deed
presented by R. S. Shatford and Ada A. Shatford, proposing to convey to the City of San
Luis Obispo a certain strip of land extending from Fixlini Street, from its present
terminus to Lizzie Street in a Northwesterly direction for a distance of approximately-
246 feet was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works,the City Attorney and the City
Engineer for investigation and report to the Council.
Application of Ronald C. Thomas for license for Cigars Sideline at 796 Higue
Street was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy.
The application of Ellsworth & Warnken for permit to move a metal electricall
lighted sign from 1114 Garden Street to 1021 Broad Street was granted on motion of Ralph
C. Kennedy, seconded by VJ. H. Brazil with the provision that sign hang according to
ordinance and work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.
On motion of 4V. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the City Clerk was
directed to return certified checks submitted with the bids of Walter B. Roselip and
Pacific Coast Coal Co. on coarse and fine aggregate for the construction of Reservoir
No. 3. Bids submitted at 7:30 P. M. May 20th, 1940.
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil the meeting adjourned
