Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Absent: None The minutes of June 17th and 24th were read and approved as read. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by iW. H. Brazil: J. Hollinger - Residence and Garage, Phillips & Beebee Tract, Cost 2000:00 Alfred & Beulah Selvage - Res. and.Garage, Lot 109 B1k 4, Firlini Tract " 5000.00 The application of Emma C. Righter to make an addition 10 x 30 ft. to the Uit. Vie= m Hosoital ,;aas referred to the Commissioner of Public .Tor-ks, with power to act, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by 71. H. Brazil. The reportE of the City Collector and the round Master for the month of Jur_e, 1940 were received and ordered placed on file. .The application of Sandercock Transfer Co. ,•b;r.Smee's Plumbing Co., for permit-to break pavement on High Street between Beach Street and Leff Street for setiver connection was referred, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by '!J. H. Brazil to the Commissioner of Fublic Works, with power to act. The application of Vernon. L. :Porter for permit to hook up with sewer on Murray Ave. bet-.een Kentucky Ave. and the S. P. R.R. right -of -way way granted on motion of R. F. Fio,alell, seconded by W. H. Brazil. The City Engineer, Kenneth Beck, filed report on tests of samples of rock and sand, sent to Smith -Emery Co. from the Dalessi pits, to be used in construction of concrete lining on City Reservoir No. 3, - reporting that both rock and sand met with standard testE and recommended the use of the ag,regate above mentioned for the said construction work. P:iatter discussed. It was moved by R. P. Howell, seconded by 7U1.'H. brazil that the report of the Engineer be accepted and that the contract for furnishing the rock and sand for Reservoir No: 3 be awarded to Henry Dalessi', as the low bidder, at the prices named in his bid submitted n,!ay 20th, 1940. The resignation of Dr. Dorsey Ivl. Kelley as Trustee of the City rublic-Library vas received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil the resignation was accepted with regret. City Clerk directed to 1.vrite Dr. 1ielley thanl•;ing him for his past services on behalf of the Library and expressing regret at his resignation. The petition of P. V. Binns at al requesting that a street light be placed on Ella Street bet?veen Ruth Street and Johnson Ave. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, with power to act, on motion duly seconded and carried. Claims against the City for the month of June, 1940, were ordered paid on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. Commissioner R. P. Howell reported that favorable action had been given on the application of Harry Laird for permit to cut pavement on Monterey Street between Osos and Santa Rosa Streets for the purpose of installing sever and water connections etc. for the Rest Depot of the Greyhound Lines.. The application of Frank,Palmaymesa for - permit to connect with sewer on Pacific Street between Beach and Carmel Streets was granted. 'llork to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. l�
