f0 Ordinance No. 215 (New :Series) - An Ordinance establishing a Public Re-
creation Commission providing for the appointment of a Board of Recreation Commissioners,
and fixing the powers, duties and term of office of such commissioners was finally passed
on.-rMotion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by F. C. Kimball by the following vote:
Ayes: W. H. Brazil, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball
(Noes: R. P. Howell, Joseph Leary
.absent: None
On motion of V7. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell, the application of E. G.
Elliott pertaining to the operation of Merchandise (.Venders) ( Claw ivjachines) was denied.
The Assistant City Enaineer,.Leonard.Lenger, reported on the matter of in-
stallation of Traffic Safety Devices at the intersection of Marsh and Santa Rosa Streets.
Matter discussed and continued.
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by :V. H. Brazil, the Commissioner of
rublic Works, R. P. Howell, was granted a leave of absence for a vacation, out of the State!
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Id. E. Brazil the meeting adjourned
tojionday, July. 8th, 1940 at 7:30 P. M.

The Merchandising Bond of Lawrence E. Pearson with U. S. Fidelity and Guaranty
(Company as surety was received, and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by VJ. H. Brazil
the surety was accepted, bond approved and license ordered issued.
On motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by �V. H. Brazil the following applications
Ifor permit to lay side -walk were granted with the provision that the work conform to the
specifications of the department of engineering:
J. D. Johnson - 80 ft. of full width sidewalk, south side of
Church St. between Chorro St..and Garden St.
G. B. Stapp - 50 ft. of 4 ft. park sidewalk, west side of
Chorro 5t. between Islay St. and Leff St.
D. Lewetzow - 45 ft. of 4 ft. park sidewalk on the *Nest side of
Chorro St. between Islay St. and Leff St. .
