The application of Neon Sales & Service by Sam Holland, for permit to hang a
neon sign for the Tasty Bakery.at 895 Higuera Street was granted on motion of `N.H.Brazil,
seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy with the provision that the sign hang according to ordinance
and that the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.
The application of Homer Cummings for permit to move a neon sign from its present
location at 412 Higuera Street to 354 Higuera Street ( Rose's Eat Shop) was granted with
the provision that the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer and-in
accordance with ordinance, as was also, the application of the San Luis Cleaners for per-
mit to rehang a reconditioned metal sign on Broad Street between Higuera and Marsh Street
On motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by W. H. Brazil the petition of H. J. Dubin
for permit to construct a concrete culvert in lot 4, .Block 95 was granted with the pro-
vision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.
There was discussion relative to.the purchase of two new police cars. Matter de-
ferred for further investigation,
The Commissioner of Public Health and Safety was authorized to make a further
check on traffic on certain street intersections.
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil the meeting adjourned
to Monday ,July 29th, , 1940 at 7:30 P. M.

The application of the San Joaquin Power Division, Pacific Gas and Electric Co.
No. 270 for permit to do certain work on Pismo Street between Essex Street and the San
Luis Obispo High School, more particularly described in application on file, was re-
ceived-and on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by W. H. Brazil the matter was referred
to the Commissioner cf Public Works for investigation and report to the Council:
The City Attorney presented and read Investigation Report under "Special Assessmen
Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest Act of 1931 ", relative to the Improvement
of Mill, Feach,,Osos and Morro Streets in the City of San'Luis Obispo, and
Resolution No. 523 (New Series ) - A Resolutipn approving Report and fixing time
and place of hearing thereon as September 3rd, 1940 at 7:30 P. M. in the Council room
of the City Hall, was adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by IN. H. Brazil by the
following vote:
