City Hall, Tuesday, August 6, 1940 - 9:45 A.M.
City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor F. C. Kimball presiding.
Present: W.H.Brazil, R.F. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary
Absent: None
The matter of the bids for the improvement of Chorro, Garden, Leff, Church
and Upham Streets, under Resolution of Intention No. 518 (New Series) received August
5th, 1940 which were referred to the City Engineer for final approval, were now taken up:
Brown & Doko - Total bid . . .$17,833.33,
Bidder's Bond, U.S. Fidelity & Guaranty Co. in
the amount of $ ,000.00 accompanied said bid.
F. H. Gates - Total bid . $149887.75,
Certified check in the amount of $1600.00
accompanied said bid.
City Engineer, Kenneth Beck, appeared and recommended the acceptance of the Bid of F.H.
Gates as the low bidder, and,
Resolution No. 524 (New Series) - A Resolution of the City Council of the
City of San Luis Obispo awarding the contract for the work described in Resolution of.
Intention No. 518 (New Series) of the City Council of the City of San Luis Obispo to
F. H. Gates was adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil by the follow
ing vote:
Ayes: �'1.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph-C. Kennedy, F.C. Kimball, Joseph Leary
Noes: None
Absent: None
On motion duly seconded and carried it was ordered that the Bidder's bond of
Brown and Doko, the unsuccessful bidder, be returned.
On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil, the meeting adjourned to
Monday, August 12th, 1940 at 7:30 P. M.
