City of San Luis Obispo. Upon motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Mayor.F.C.Kimball
the sum of $75.00 was ordered paid to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Band to help defray
the expenses of said band to the National Convention in Los Angeles on August 27th, such
amount to be paid out of the Mayor's Fund, upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: R.F. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball
Noes: Joseph Leary
Absent: W. H. Brazil
Upon motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the Council ad-
journed to Thursday, August 22nd, 1940 at 5 o'clock-Y. M. upon the following roll call vote:

i The purpose of the meeting was to hear report of the City Attorney regarding
status of the title of certain property on Palm Street,
which said title is now vested
in the City of San Luis Obispo, as a possible site for a. proposed Veterans Memorial Build-
ing. Matter discussed. It was moved by W. H. Brazil and seconded by R. P. Howell that the
City Council go on record as being in favor of the proposition of using the real pro..ert

conveyed to the City of San Luis Obispo by deed from H. L. Kemper and Francis H. Throop,
dated December 17, 19183 for the purpose of erecting thereon a Veterans Memorial Building,
and that the City of San Luis Obispo will co- operate with the Board of Supervisors of the
' County of San Luis Obispo with this - purpose in mind and, if legally possible, will lease
such property to the County of San Luis Obispo for such purpose. The motion carried.
Lorenz V. Richardson appeared before the Council relative to Ambulance Service,
Matter discussed and taken under advisement. City Attorney to look into the legal aspect
f the matter.

Leary made a report upon the proposed purchase of a Stricin
Machine
stating that a machine
has been purchased by the city of Paso Robles and that Such
machine
was satisfactory. He
further reported that such machine could be purchased at a
cost of
$'867.00, plus tax, and
the Commissioner of Supplies :^gas directed to purchase such
machine.
Upon motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the Council ad-
