Howell, the Commissioner of Supplies was authorized and directed to purchase a flasher type "Caution Sign" to be installed at the southwesterly corner of Marsh and Santa Rosa Street intersection - installation to be made under the supervision of the City Engineer and the Highway De- partment: A On motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by F. C. - tiimball, Gene Roberts was appointe as Captain of Police at a stated salary as fixed by Resolution No. 537 (New Series). Motion carried. Joseph Leary voted "No ". Re: Possible site for City Hall Building:. Commissioner Ralph C. Kennedy reported that the Presbyterian Church property at the corner of Osos and Marsh Streets could be purchased for $$10,000; that the Educational unit was not for sale. Eugene Roberts as Captain of iolic.e,in the amount of $1000.00 with U. S. fidelity and Guaranty Co. as surety,..was received and on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell, same was accepted and approved. Notification from the State Board of Equalization under date of September 23, 1940 and September 24, 1940 relative to liquor licenses for 0. H. Burton and for the Interstate Co. were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for inves- tigation and report, on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell. A petition of Hackett & Shadinger, by C. E. Hackett, requesting the Council to install a street light at the corner of South Street and Beebee Street and also, in the center of the block on South Street between Beebee Street and Hi uera1St�_was.,received. ' and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W.. H. Brazil the petition was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety and the Commissioner of Supplies, with power to act. Motion carried. The petition of Carl F. Carlson for permit to erect scaffolding over sidewalk area in front of the Castro Building at 978 Chorro Street in order to replaster the front of said building granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by 111. H. Brazil with the provision that the said scaffold be erected and constructed under the supervision of the City Engineer. The application of Mrs. Elnora J. Richardson for position as Assistant Director of Recreation or Matron of the Recreation Project of San Luis Obispo was received and on motion duly seconded and carried such application was ordered placed on file. The petition of the San Luis Obispo Republican Central Committee by '.d. G.Butler, Seeretary,for permit to place banner ( "Willkie for President Headquarters ") across Monterey Street at the intersection of Chorro Street was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil seconded by R. P. Howell, A report was received from Earl E. Hanson, Chief Inspector of the Department of rublic Health covering the Rodent Extermination campaign just completed in the City of San Luis Obispo, and on motion duly seconded and carried, the report was received and ordered placed on file. The above bids were checked by the Commissioner of Finance and Revenue and the City Attorney, and, it appearing that the bid of Evans Brokerage Co. on behalf of the Connecticut Indemnify Co. in the amount of $493.07 was the lowest and best bid of all bids received, it was moved by Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil that the bid of Evans Brokerage Co. be accepted in the amount of $493.07: motion carried. Commissioner R. P. Howell reported favorable on the following applications, and on his motion, seconded by W. H.
