The.City Engineer presented specifications for steel doors for the equipment room in the new fire house. On motion of o-7. H. Brazil, seconded by H. P. Howell the City Clerk was directed to advertise for bids in accordance with said specifications; 1 said bids to be received up to 7:30 o'clock F. M. October 7th, 1940. Resolution No. 539 (New Series) - A Resolution directing the City Clerk to cancel taxes on Lots 18 and 19, Block 186 Ingleside Homestead Tract was passed and adopted on motion of R. l•. H. Brazil, seconded by F ?alph C. Kennedy: Faul Gregg - To recess curb for 12 ft. driveway on the East side of Broad St. between Higuera and +lonterey Streets Willard J. Chase To lay 50 ft. of curbing on the north side of Center St. between Almond Street and North Broad Street The reports of the City Collector, the police Judge and the Found Master for the month ending September 30th, 1940 were received and ordered placed on fire. Notification of the State Board of Equalization under date of October 3, 1940, relative to the application of Cery Arcaina and Max Lagao for license for "On Sale Beer and Wine" at 866 Palm Street was referred to the Commissioner of rublic Health and Safety with power to act, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell. The petition of Chas. F. Bellman et al of 2017 Gsos Street, protesting the pro- posal to move the Salvation Army kitchen from its present location to a site near the S. P. Depot was received. Matter discussed and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil the petition was received and ordered placed on file. Communication received from Fred H. Jennings, relative to license for a tent show in the City of San Luis Obispo; City Attorney to 'take up the matter with Mr.Jennings and report at the next meeting. On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell it-was ordered that the claim of James H. Murphy, in the amount of $105.00 be alloi•red and paid - same being compromise amount in settlement of previous claim of petitioner for injuries received in a certain accident on Pacific Street, December 13, 1939. Joseph Leary voted "No ". The claim of R. F. Richardson in the amount of 95.00 for ambulance service for Frank Rosa, September 14, 1940 was ordered allowed and paid on motion diily'seconded and carried. Claims against the City for the month of September were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil. This being the date fixed for receiving sealed bids for two steel doors for the equipment room of the new'fire house, matter was now before the Council. City:.Clerk announced that no formal bids had been received. City Engineer, Leonard Lenger, then presented quotation, or informal bid, from the S. P. Milling Co.'on steel doors, for the amount of 9$1370.00; Matter was discussed and it was moved by W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy that the informal bid of the S. P. Milling Co. for steel doors be accepted. Motion carried. This being the time and place fixed for hearing for the proposed improvement of portions of Mill, Peach, Osos and Morro'Streets, (Peach Street (Jt.) Improvement), in accordance with Resolution of Intention No. 534 (New Series), the matter is now taken up by the Council. City Attorney read Investigation Report under "Special Assessment In- vestigation, Limitation and Maiority Protest Act of 1931 ". There were no written protests filed by property openers, and there was no one present to enter any verbal protest against the said proposed improvement. Resolution No. 540 (New Series) - A Resolution ordering certain work 'on portions D f Mill, Peach, Osos and Morro Streets as described in Resolution'of Intention No. 534 (New Series) of the City Council of the City of San Luis Obispo and calling for sealed proposals or bids to be delivered to the City Clerk of the City Council on or before 7:30 o'clock 1'. M. on the 28th day of October, 1940, was duly and regularly adopted, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil by the following vote: 12 AYES: W.H.Brazil; R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. MacLean, Accountant, on ":Hater Accoint" for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 1940: Discussion: It was moved by R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary that the City Collector be permitted to transfer to "Bad Accounts ", as outlined by Mr. MacLean's report, and that water daposits on these accounts be forfeited. and credited to the City Water Fund. Motion carried. On motion of .H. H. Brazil, seconded by Joseph Leary the following notifications from the State Board of Equalization relative to Liquor Licenses were received and ordered placed on file: 0. H. Fidelity & Guaranty Co. as surety for Class "E" Contractor's license was approved and the surety accepted on motion of Ralph,. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary. Resolution No. 541 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the execution of an Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and Booth Bros. a partnership, for the lease rental of a certain 1940 six cylinder Dodge Chassis and cab, Model VF 32, Engine No. T -98 -1015, Serial No. 9275028 was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by `Td.. H. Brazil by the following vote: Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.Y. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C.
