City Hall, Monday, February 17, 1941 - 7:30 P. M.
City Council met in regular session - Mayor F. C. Kimball presiding.
Present: W.H. Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary
Absent: None
The minutes of February 3rd and 10th were read and approved as read.
The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of W.H.

The application of Rundle's Inc. for permit to install a neon sign for
L. E. Tiernan at 645 Higuera Street referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and
Safety for investigation and report to the Council, on motion duly seconded and carried.
The report of the City Clerk for the month of January 1941 was received and
ordered placed on file.
The application of A. F. Schliem for registration as Class "D" Contractor,
together with U. S. fidelity and Guaranty Co. bond in the amount of $1000.00 and registrati
fee of $25.00 received, and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil, it
ordered that the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration granted.
The following merchandising bonds were presented and on motion of Ral ph C.
Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil it was.ordered that the surety in each case be accepted,
bond approved and licenses ordered issued:

Stephen C. Beno & Co. - U. S. Fidelity and Guaranty Co. - Mdse - Men's Furnishings

The resignation of Callie M. John as City Clerk and'Ex- Officio Assessor of the
City of San Luis Obispo was received. It was moved by W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P.
Howell that the resignation be accepted with regret, and that the City Attorney be instructed
to w rite a letter to Mrs. John expressing the appreciation of all members of the Council
for her faithful and diligent work on behalf of the City. Motion carried. All voted "Yes".
It was moved by Mayor F. C. Kimball, seconded by W. H. Brazil that John E.Brown
be nominated to fill the unexpired term of Callie M. John, City Clerk and Ex- Officio
Assessor. Motion carried. All voted "Yes ".
Joe Hosoda appeared before the Council relative to parking problem on lower
Higuera Street. Without motion the matter was referred to the Commissioner of rublid
Health and Safety for investigation and report.
On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. brazil, Maurice Cheda was permitted
to move a small cabin from the Taylor property 'on Mill Street ( lot 14, Block 25) to a
location outside the city of San Luis Obispo - wore: to be done under the supervision of the
City Engineer.
The applications of Neon Sales & Sergice for permit to hang a neon sign at. the
(Telegram Tribune Co., Morro Street, also at the Assembly of God Church at the corner of
Islay and Chorro Streets was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R.P. Howell -
work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.
The application of Eva Kimmons for license for Restaurant at 158 Higuera Street
was denied on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy.
On favorable report and motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil the
following applications for sewer connections were granted:
Golden State Creamery - Higuera St. between Nipomo and Carmel Streets
Wm. Righetti - Osos. St..between Mill and Peach Streets
The petition of Harold J. Anderson, Post No. 1766, Veterans of Foreign Wars
relative to show was again laid over.
On motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Joseph Leary the following licenses were
ordered cancelled:
