The application-of Join Stevens for license for Palmistry was denied, on
motinn of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell.
The Merchandising Bnnds for Cletus J. Owens and of the Thrifty Furniture Co.
by Frank Schor, together with certified checks in the amount of $200.00 each as surety,
was received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W.H. Brazil the surety was
accepted, bond approved and license ordered issued.
The application of James J. Seifberg for license for Cleaning and Dyeing at
1983 Osos Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investi-
(cation and report, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil.
The application of Chas. J. Berkemeyer for license to operate 21 Mechanical
Amusement Devices was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for inves-
tigation and report, on motion of R. F. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil.

April 5, 1941 relative to the application of Joseph Berta for "On Sale Beer & 'Nine" and
ffOn Sale Distilled Spirits ", was received and ordered placed on file on motion duly
seconded and carried.

In accordance with the provisions of Charter regulations, the Council acting a;
a canvassing board, now proceeded to canvass returns of the General!Municipal Election and
Consolidated Charter Amendment Election held on Monday, April 7, 1941. Tabulation follow-
ing shows result of vote cast at such election anfL as canvassed by the City Council. The
number of votes cast at such election being 2282 within the City of San Luis Obispo and
156 in the Consolidated precincts outside the City, voting on School Directors only:.

70 Due to the fact that it was impossible to count and canvass the absentee
votes the matter of completing the 'canvass was continued to- Monday, npril 14, 1941 at
7:30 P. M.
Re: Compensation of Election Officers for General Municipal Election and
Cnnsolidated Charter :amendment ylection of April 7, 1941:_ It was moved by R. P.Howell,
seconded by Joseph Leary that Election Officers serving within the City of San Luis
Obispo be compensated in the amount of $10.00 each for their services; that Election
Officers serving in the special precincts outside the city of San Luis Obispo be allowed
$6.00 each for their service.
Re: Rental for Precinct Polling Places for General Municipal Election and Con-
solidated Charter Amendment Election, April 7,1941: It was moved by R. P. Howell, seconder
by W. H. Brazil that rental for precinct polling places within the city be fixed at $8.00
each; that rental for precinct polling places outside the city be fixed at $6.00 each.
Application from Arley Gill for position as Building Inspector was received and
ordered placed on file.
Upon favorable report and on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R.P. Howell,
the following applications were granted:
Petition to hang neon sign for A. E. Nernof at 1025 Chorro Street
Application of Shell Oil Co. to install tank and pump at Monterey & Santa Rosa Streets
Application of Karl E. Pierce for sidewalk and curbing on Ida St. between Higuera and
Marsh Streets
Application of Albert Raya - for Billiards & Pool, Cigars Sideline,Soft Drinks,
and Lunch Counter at 964 Monterey St.
Application of Ray Wherret - for Music Vending Machines - various locations
In Re: Application of Roy Vincent for registration as Class "E" Contractor:
Communication received from the Aetna Casualty and Surety Co. stating that the bond of
Roy Vincent is still in full force and effect and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded
by W. H. Brazil it was ordered that the registration be granted.
Re: An Agreement made between the Mack International Motor Truck Corporation
and the City of San Luis Obispo as follows: that the City of San Luis Obispo agrees to
rent and lease a Mack Type 80, 750 gallon, triple combination pumping fire engine for a
period beginning April 7, 1941; the engine leased under the terms of this agreement, shall
be a show engine now at Salt Lake City, Utah and that said engine shall be delivered to
the City of San Luis Obispo at an early date as possible, F. 0. B. San Luis Obispo.
Relative to New Fire Truck: Agreement made between the Mack International
Motor Truck. Corporation and the City of San Luis Obispo for a new Fire Engine; said
engine shall be constructed within 100 working days from the date hereof, ( April 7, 1941)
or as soon as possible thereafter as is consistent with good workmanship and proper
painting; delivery of such new engine shall be made to the City of San Luis Obispo, F.O.B.
at Allentown, Penn. and the City of San Luis Obispo to pay the freight to San Luis Obispo,
and upon delivery of such engine the show engine above referred to shall be returned to
Salt Lake City, F.O.B. San Luis Obispo, and the terms as per agreement, on the new engine
are as follows: 24 payments of $300.00 each and one payment of $150.00; total price
being $ 7350.00; sales tax and freight charges to be baid upon delivery of new engine,
and,
Resolution No. 568 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the Execution of
an Agreement between Mack International Motor Truck Corporation, and the City of San
Luis Obispo was passed and adopted upon the following roll call vote:
