Parks submitted his resignation as Chief of Police by the 95 following wire, " Unable to obtain release from contract consider this as my resignation as Chief letter following ". Signed, "Don Parks", and on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil, the resignation was accepted: On motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell, Bernard J. Epperly was appointed Chief of Police at a salary of $200.00 per month as of June 1st, 1941. Commissioner Ralph C. Kennedy made a motion requesting the City of San Luis Obispo to withdraw Resolution-No. 551 (New Series) relative to opposing the transfer into the City of San Luis Obispo of any On -Sale Distilled spirits license, copy of which was mailed to the State Board of Equalization at Sacramento, California. Motion lost. On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil, the meeting adjourned to Monday, June 9, 1941 at 7:30 P. M. Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. �. Cogdell for..addition to present building on part of Lot 13, La Vina Tract, cost $200.00, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell. The following applications for permit to connect with sewer-were referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with pom er to act, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell: Emory Bridges - sewer connection between S. P. R. R. and Francis St. C. Porter - " " Johnson Ave. between First St. and Johnson Ave. T. A. Rose - " " Garden St. between Marsh and Pacific Sts. -The applicatiori of the Peoples Cash Store by Max Ossman, to cut curb for a dis- tance of 12 ft. and ramp walk for driveway on the north side.of Higuera St. between Broad and Nipomo Streets was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R.p. Howell. 96 The application of the General Petroleum Corp. for permit to cut curb for a distance of 36 ft. and ramp walk and remove old sidewalk with a 6" walk :;n the South side of Marsh St. between Santa Rosa and Osos Streets was referred to the Commissioner of Publi Works for investigation and report, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell. The application of the Fitzgerald Estate to out curb for a distance of 30 ft. and ramp walk fob driveway on the north side of Marsh Street between Chorro and Morro Streets was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. The application of the Standard Oil Co. of California to install a new 3000 gallon tank at the Service Station at the corner of Monterey and Santa Rosa Streets was granted on motion of R. P. Hov,ell, seconded by Joseph Leary, subject to the approval of the Fire Underwriters - work to be d:,ne under the supervision of the City Engineer. The application of Eugene E. Gregg for a license for Dance Hall at 168 Higuera Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public-Health and Safety for investigation and report, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary. The bond of Bernard J. Epperly, in the amount of $2000:00 , as Chief of Police of the City of San Luis Obispo, was accepted by the Council, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howe U. Resolution No. 585 (New Series) - A Resolution authorizing the Mayor to execu an application to the Division of .Dater Resources of the State of California for the appro priation of water from the Salinas River was introduced and adopted upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F.C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: W. H. Brazil On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, the City of San Luis Obispo entered into a lease rental agreement with -R. C. Hoyt, Inc. for the purchase of a 1941 - 4 cyl. Ford Pickup to be purchased for the Water Department and paid out of the water fund in the amount of $650.73. Richard F. Harris tendered his resignation as Police Judge, and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R.. P. Howell the resignation was accepted with regret, as of June 24, 1941. The application of Paul Jackson for Police Judge, of the City of San Luis Obispo was received and ordered filed on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by,Joseph Leary. The following applications for permit to connect with sewer were granted on moti of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy - work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer: Rodney V. Johnson - to connect with sewer on Higuera St. between Chorro and Broad Streets Rachel Dennis -7 " " it " on High St. between Cypress and Price Streets The following applications for sidewalk and curbing were granted on Qiotion of R.P. Shirley- to break .curb and ramp walk for driveway on the South side of Monterey St. between Ease! and Johnson Streets The application of A. E. Reis for permit to build garage with Apartment over garage on Lot 8, La Vina Tract, at a cost of $1800.00 was granted on motion of R. P.Howell, seconded by Ralph C.
