City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor F. C. Kimball presiding.

The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of
R.P.Howell, seconded by 'r9. H. Brazil:

The following applications for contractor's licenses were received and on
motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, it was ordered the bonds be approved,
sureties accepted and registrations granted:

Communication received from the League of California Cities, requesting the
City of San Luis Obispo to join the league; discussion was had at length; the first motion
which was m8de by Joseph Leary, seconded by W. H. Brazil to receive same and be filed was
lost on the•roll call vote. Discussion again followed and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy,
seconded by VJ. H. Brazil it was moved that the City of San Luis Obispo become a member of
the League and that the Clerk be authorized to draw warrant in the smount of $112.50 for
eix months dues upon the following roll call vote:

Communication from R. P. Hollings requesting the city to investigate the stree

lighting condition at the corner of Osos and Railroad Ave. was turned over to Cbmmisss:oners W.H.
Brazil and Joseph Leary for investigation and report back to the Council.
Letter from L. F. Andrews thanking the City for the action taken in curbing th
night auto noises was ordered received and filed.
Mr. Urushima appeared before the Council requesting that something be done about
the parking situation in and around his place of business at 156 Higuera Street. His com-
plaint was referred to the Commissioner of Pub1_c Health and Safety for action.

until the next meeting.
The application of Iti1rs. VJ. 3: Mathews for permit to remodel present building on
Lot 4, Block 3, Southside AdditiM at a cost of $9,00.00 was granted on motion of R. P.
Howell, seconded by ?;'. H. Brazil.
The applicatinn of Mrs. Mae Levy requesting a renewal for Hotel at 158 Higuera
Street ( The Pacific Hotel) was denied on motion of W. TH Brazil, seconded by Ralph C.
Kennedy.
The application of Emory Bridges for sewer connection was again held over.
The application of Loys Watson for Skating. Rink at 1200 Archer St. was granted
on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell.
The application of Robert Armstrong for license for Taxicab at 1109 Morro 13treet
was held over for further investigation.
The petition of L. H. Leidig for permit to hang sign on Carmel Street side was
granted on motion of W. H. Brdz.il, seconded by R. P. Howell with the provision that work be
done under the supervision of the City Engineer and existing ordinance.
Re: Communication from Earl Warren, Attorney General, State of California relati
to sending Police Officer to the Fifth Annual California Technical Institute of Peace
Officer's Training. Matter discussed at length but noaction taken at this time.
Letter from San Luis Obispo City Schools relative to the City doing certain work
regarding water mains and install fire hydrants was discussed and held over until such time
as estimate of cost is furnished by the Engineer's office.
The Insurance Policies covering franchise of the Jones Transportation Service Co.
which were referred to the City Attorney, were reported on as being in order and on motion
of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil it was ordered that they be accepted and file
with the City Clerk.
At the request of the City Clerk the City Council granted the following license
to be cancelled; on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by 13. H. Brazil:

Mr. John Patrick requested change of name on the application for Mechanical Amuse
went Devices to read Patrick and Stearns, and on moticn of I H. Brazil, seconded by R. P.
Howell, the request was granted.
aesolution No 594 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the Execution of
an Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and the County of San Luis Obispo relating
to the use,by the City of San Luis Obispo, of a pump house on property owned by the County
of San Luis Obispo, to insure proper water supply to the residents of the Goldtree Vineyard
Tract was passed and adopted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell by the
following roll call vote:
Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F.C.K_imball, Joseph Leary
Noes: None
Absent: None
The City Attorney presented a re -draft of a taxi ordinance at this time; matter
discussed but no action taken. It was referred to the Mayor and City Council for further
study.
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil the City Clerk was directed
to accent the sum of $490.84, and to cancel of record all taxes, street assessments, penal-
ties and costs now appearing on the City records against Lot 102, Mt. Pleasanton Square,
said lot being now owned by the State of California.
