for printing an.d- -:publishing legal notices for the ensuing year, which bids are to be
publicly opened and read on July 14, 1941.
On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil, Mr. W. D. Sanford was
appointed "Building Inspector" for the City of San Luis Obispo at a'salary of 4200.00 per
month as of July 1, 1941.
On motion of IN. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell, the meeting adjourned.

On motion of R. F. Howell, seconded by .'l. H. Brazil the Marre Estate permit
to tile front of building in Block 13 ( building occupied by Harry Norton Drug Store)
at a cost of :200.00 was granted.
The application of A. R. Seaback for residence and garage on Lot 11 Block 60
Vleills Addition at a cost of 252700.00 was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works,
with power to act, on motion of Ralph C. Kerziedy, seconded by 'N. H. Brazil.
The application of Edna Plato for sewer connection, together with a letter
requesting the City to extend sewer line up Johnson rive. wc;s granted, on motion of R. P.
Howetl,seconded by FJ. H. Brazil.
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil, the folloining ael:li-
cations A)ere referred to the Commissioner of Public ?'forks, with power to act:
John Lana - Side walk, curb and gutter for a distance of 12 ft. on the North
side of Fixlini Street between Lizzie St. and County Hospital Grounds
Mrs. A. M. Ferrinf - Sidezaalk and curbing for a distance of 150 ft. on the west
side of Essex Street between Palm and Mill Streets.
The application of Raymond True for permit to connect with server on Branch
Street between Story and Ward Streets was granted on motion of-R. P. Howell, seconded by
.^'. H. Brazil - work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.
The following apolications were referred to the Commissioner of public Health
and Safety for investigation and report:

Claims against the City for the month of-June, 1941 were ordered paid, subject
to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor.
Resolution No. 595 (New Series) ? A Resolution adopting Budget and Approving
Memorandum of Agreement for Expenditure of 1/4 cent gas tax allocated for Streets of Major
Importance was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil by
the following vote:

Resolution No. 596 (New Series) - A Resolution approving Tdemorandum of Agreement
for expenditure of 1,!4 cent gas tax allocated for State Highways was passed and adopted on
motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil by the following vote:

Re: Applications of Rudolph Marshall, Roy H. Burger, Robert Armstrong and com-
munication from the San Luis Obispo City Schools were held over until the next meeting of
the Council.
The application of Robert Danneberg for dwelling on Lot 21, Block 17, Anholm
Addition, at a cost of '500.00 was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W.H.
The application of Mrs. Anna K. Hansen for Lodging House at 878 Marsh Street was
granted on motion of 111. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell.
On motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, application for Taxicab
and Tour license was granted to Maxine L. Swingle. Joseph Leary voted "No ".
Regarding the communication from the State of California, by Earl Warren, under
date of June 18, 1941 asking the City of San Lois Obispo to send a representative to the
Fifth Annual California Technical Institute of Peace Officer's Training School and on
motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell it was ordered that the Chief of Police,
B. J. Epperly, attend the school to be held at the University of California in Berkeley,
California, from July 28th to August 9, 1941, and the City of San Luis Obispo to pay his
expenses. Joseph Leary voted "No ".
The application of Emory Bridges for sewer permit was denied without prejudice.
Communication from the Santa Maria Gas Co. under date of July 7, 1941 asking for
a withdrawal of'their application for a gas franchise with the City of San Luis Obispo
filed July 15, 1929, together with a letter under date of July 7, 1941 enclosing anew
application for a Gas franchise under the Franchise Act of 1937 was read to the Council.
Matter discussed at length, but no action taken, and the same was referred to the City
Attorney.
Resolution No. 597 (New "Series) - A Resolution providing for the Execution of
an Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and E. L. O'Reilly relating to the lease
of a CAC -112 ton Pickup was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by
W. H. Brazil by the following vote:
