Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F.C.Kimball, Joseph Leary Absent: None On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. The application of George Gibson for laundry at 117• Eto Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W: H. Brazil.. The following applications were granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy: Roy Kau ozumi - Hotel 158 Higuera Street. G. L. Bridges _ Taxicab Fremont Court The application for Hotel at 158 Higuera Street which was applied for by U.Tsutsum.i on July 28th was withdrawn. The petition from the Modern Neon Sign Co. for permit to hang a double faced neon sign for Iru Price at 790 Monterey Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Healt) and Safety for investigation end report, on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded �::y Ralph U. Kennedy. Application of transfer of license from W. 0. Pinnick ( Betty's Nook) at 678 Marsh Street to V. V. Costa was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. The application of the Santa Maria Gas Co. for permit to break pavement on Monterey Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Streets waa granted, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconde by W. H. Brazil - work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. The application of H. D. Sanders for permit to connect with sewer on Sandercock Street between Beebee and Cypress Streets was referred to the Commissioner of rublic Works, with power to act. D C C 1 1 1 I Communication received from the Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pacific dated July 31, addressed to the Mayor and City Council, calling to their attention, the Annual Conference of the Pacific Coast Associatinn of lire Chiefs to be held -in =:eno, September 8th; 9th and 10th. Game was ordered received and filed, as was also the com- municatibn.3,eceived from Eugene-L. Gregg, asking for permission to file an application wit the State Board of Equalization for an "On Sale Beer" license at 162 Higuera Street. A protest was received from the Santa Margarita Land and Cattle Company, protes ing the city's application I4o. 10216 filed with the Division of hater Resources, State of California, for the flood waters of the Salinas River and read to the Council; on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil, it was moved that the Lay or and City Attorney be authorized to make appropriate reply to the City of Paso Robles and the Santa Margarita Land and Cattle Co., and to any other protests that may be filed. Claims against the City for the month of July were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. E. alaucke - Sidewalk on the west side of Layton Street between Woodbridge and Caudill Streets. Re: Communication from the League of California Cities regarding the I I 43rd Annual Conference to be held at Sacramento on October 13th to 16th was again brought before the Council and ordered filed. Re: Communication from airs. VI. S. Bradbeer relative to debris and rocks on the sidewalk area on the Northeast side of Broad Street; matter again taken up, and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by 'I. H. Brazil, the Commissioner of Public Works was in- 1 structed to contact property owners relative to the necessary action in clearing the side- walks of obstacles, etc. as referred to in her letter. On favorable report and motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by U. H. Brazil the application of it. E. Re: Com:�unication and request from the San Luis Obispo City Schools under date of June 20, relative to a new water main for the Senior High Sdhool was again taken up; The assistant Engineer, Leonard Lenger, presented Engineer's estimate on the proposed pro- ject and same vies referred to the Mayor and Commissioner P. Howell, and which estimate is to be presented to the School Board for their acceptance. The matter of the gas franchise with the Santa 1iaria Gas Co. was again held over for further study. The City Attorney presented aproposed Taxicab Ordinance before the Council; matter discussed, and same will De taken up again at the neat meeting. resolution Ito. 606 (New Series) - A Resolution iieclsring a certain portion of Buchon Street to be and constitute a Boulevard was passed and adopted on motion of ',r.fi.
