H. Brazil. The transfer of license from the Mission Taxicab Co. from the firm of Calkins & La Scala to Al Calkins, dba Mission Taxi Co. at 987 Monterey Street was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, as was also the transfer of license from Mrs. John Neitzel, (Mickey's Lunch) at 406 Higuera Street to Marjorie L. and H.T. Dietz. A petition signed by S. J. Lusardi et al requesting the oiling of Upper Higuera Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act., on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary. The application of A. F. De Gottardi for permit to connect with sewer on Mill Street between Toro and Essex Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil. The application of C. L. Armstrong for permit-to cut 10 feet of curb f6r dri and ramp walk on the southside of Islay Street between Nipomo and Beach Streets was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil - work to be done under the supervision of the Building Inspector. The application of Chas. A. Sheldon for registration as a Class "E" Contractor, together with Glens Falls Indemnity Co. bond in the amount of $500.00 and registration fee of $15.00 received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil, the bond was approved, surety accepted and registration granted, as was also the application of Ward I. Cook for registration as a Class "D" Contractor, together with U. S. Fidelity and Guaranty Co. bond in the amount of $1000.00 and registration fee of $25.00. Notification received from the State Board of Equalization for transfer of "On Sale Beer "& Wine" from the Estate of David Muzio Grocery to Clementina Muzio at 870 Monterey St. On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell, same was ordered filed. Communication received from the Department of Public Health at Sacramento, Calif. requesting the city to publish a legal notice in a local pacer relative to sewage works improvements; on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Vd. H. Brazil the City Clerk was instructed to publish,notice as outlined in their letter of August 9, 1941. Ordinance No. 229 (New Series) was brought up for final passage but on motion Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil it was held over for one week to give the Council an opportunity to study the State Statutes regarding the passage of this ordinance. The amended report of the Police Judge, Timothy O'Reilly, for the month of June, 1941 and his report for the month of July was ordered received and filed. Mr. Shepherd.appeared before the Council asking permission to change the lo- cation of his taxi stand from the 800 block on Monterey Street to the 900 block on Morro Street, facing Monterey Street. The request was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell. Mr. Eugene Gregg appeared before the Council asking for an endorsement from the Council of his application for an "On Sale Beer" license to be applied for from the State Board of Equalization..
