F. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy by the following vote: Ayes: R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None ribsent: IV. H. Brazil: On motion, of R. P. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil: Lola A. Gregg for license for Pool Hall at 168 Higuera St. and the application of Zelmira Ciocchi for manufacturing Raviolas at 551 Lawrence Drive were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil. Notice received from the State of California, Dept. of Public Works, Livision of Water Resources, ( Application No. 10287) and filed by the California rolytechnic ;school of San Luis Obispo for appropriating unappropriated water from Steiner Creek was ordered received and filed on motinn-of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. F. Howell. Notice received from the State of California, Dept. of Public Works, Division of Water Resources, protesting the city's application No. 10322 filed by Anna Y. Smith, also Anita S. Johnson and Chas. F. Johnson of Route No. 1, P.O.Box 40, San Luis Obispo was referred to the City Attorney, on motion of R. F. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil. Communication received from Luippold Engineering Sales Co. under date of January 2, 1942 re: contract for chlorine gas for the month of January, 1942 was ordered received and filed. 1 1 u 1 1 1 1 Communication received from Earl M. Bernard re: the work being done 16 7 by S. P. R. R. in Railroad yards near Osos Street, was referred to the Building Inspector for investigation and .report back to .the Council, on motion of 47.. H.. Brazil,, seconded by Joseph Leary. The reports of the City Collector, and the Folice.Dept. for the month of December 1941, also the report of the City Treasurer for the month of November, 1941 were ordered received and filed. Claims -against the city were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor.; Regarding the bill for street assessment from A. G. Quirk,- showing the city's portion of the .assessment due from city property for the improvement of Grove. St. (joint-) Imp. District. It was ordered, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by W. H. Brazil, that this bill :in the amount of $960.43 go to bond. Re: The transfer of license of the San Luis Bowling Recreation from Floyd Russell to Orville John Laurent at 1115 Santa Rosa St. was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell. . Communication from United States fidelity and Guaranty Co. re: Salinas Valley Awning Works bond, was referred to the City Clerk forreply. The applications of Robert L. Crossman for city license for Cigarette and Music Vending Machines and Mechanical Devices at various locations was granted on motic'�n of 1111. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, Re: Communication from R. C. Woods relative to.condition of sidewalk on Morro Street between Higuera and the Pioneer Market; same was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for proper action, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W.H. Brazil. This being the time set for the auction of the lease of the brick building at 738 Pismo Street owned by the City, the matter was taken up: A bid was received-from the State of California and there being no other bid or offer made, and the State of California being the highest responsible bidder offering the highest monthly rent, upon motion of. R. P. Howell,. seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy and duly carried, said lease was awarded to the State of California, and the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to execute a lease on ' the form heretofore approved by the City ,Council to said State of .California. Joseph Leary voted "No" on such motion. Upon motinn of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. F. Howell and'duly carried, I. J. Boyd was employed as Inspector on the Sewage Disposal Plant, Public Works Project,' Docket Calif. 4 -144; his term of employment to date from December 4, 1941, and his salary was fixed at the rate of $10.00 per day, for the time actually devoted by him to his duties as such inspector. Re: Communication from Luippold Engineering Sales Co. dated December 23, 1941 . relative to Chlorine Gas.contract for 1942 was ordered received and filed. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil, from this day on none of the equipment of the City of San Luis Obispo shall be loaned or rented to any private individual or corporation except by the permission of the City Council. On motion or Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the meeting adjourned to January 12, 1942. Ayes: W.H. Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F..C.
