Present: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Joseph Leary Absent: F. C. Kimball The minutes of January 19th and- 26th were read and approved as read. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil: A. E. Nernof - Garage and Apt. above - Pt. Lots 8 & 91 Blk. 136, Phillips Addn. .700. Joe Lopez - To raze bldg. Lot 19, Blk. 5, Imperial Addn. - A. J. Lopez - Shed - Lot 19, Blk. 5, Imperial Addn. Cost 50.0 Jane Elizabeth Thomson - Dwelling - Lots 9 & 109 Blk. 171, "Dallidet Addn, 1200. The application for transfer of license from Dowlers Service Station by C. N. Dow ler, at Carmel and Higuera Streets to W. H. Rideout was granted, on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. A copy of a letter received from Kenneth Beck, City Engineer, addressed to F. C. Stolte Co., Pacific Grove, California regarding a supply of reinforcing steel, was ordered received and filed. The report of 'the Police Dept. and of the City Collector for the month of January, 1942 were ordered received and filed. Claims against the city for the month of January, 1942 were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. Regarding the claim of the League of California'Cities in the amount of $225.00; on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by T�J.H. Brazil, it was ordered paid upon the 'following roll call vote: Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy Noes: Joseph Leary `_4bl-ent:' F.' C. Kimball The application of the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. for permit to do certain pole work on Andrews and Conejo Streets was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. brazil. The application of Zelmira Ciocchi for a city license to make Raviolas at 551 Lawrence Drive, and application of Margaret M. Hansen to operate a rooming house -at 1203 Buchon 'Street were granted on motion of R. F. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil. The petition of Chas. Walter for permit to remove two trees from parkway at 1443 Marsh Street was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. The Merchandising Bond of the 'Nest Coast Photo and Novelty Co. at 1040 Chorro Street together with certified check in the amount of 4200.00 as surety, was received, and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by %,V. F. Brazil, the surety was accepted, bond approved and license ordered issued. Re: Communication from'the Division of Highways, District V, relative to the Defense Highway Act of 1941, was ordered received and filed. Mr. J. E. F,IcClure of the 'Chamber of Commerce., presented a' copy of a resolution adopted by the Board of Supervisors at their meeting held on February 2, 1942, asking' the city to cooperate on the proposed project, in the Matter of Acquisition of Property for an Airport, by the appropriation and allocation of said project of the sum of $5000; and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil, "the City Attorney was requested to present a resolution, for the consideration of the Council, at the adjourned meeting to be held-during the current week. Joseph Leary voted "No ".
