H. Brazil, seconded by R. 1'. Howell, upon the following vote: Axes: W. H. Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball Noes: None Absent: Joseph Leary Mr. Harry N. Jenks appeared before the Council end reported on the work being done in the construction'of the New Sewage Disposal Plant. He stated that the progress up to this time has been s ;o.w, with only 25% of the work finished in 50io of the time allotted for completion, but from now on the work would progress more rapidly due to favorable weather conditions. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil: Geo. A. Freitas - Alterations - Toilets and rest rooms. Pt. Lot 2, Blk 82 Cost $ 700.00 M. Mirko - Remodel Bldg. Lot 25, Block 11, 13eills Addn. 250.00 The petition of the Neon Sales and Service for permit to hang neon sign for 'Lonald Williams at 1015 Morro St. was granted on motion of R.F.Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil - work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Notification received from the State Board of Equalization for "On Sale Beer" license for Alipio Alvarez & Norberto Japson dba Carbonell Palm fool Hall at 866 Palm Street. Same was ordered received and filed on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by ?:'. H. Brazil. Communication received from C. J. Smith making application for the position of City Treasurer. Same .aas ordered received and filed. Communication received from Lee Johnson tendering his resignation as Police Officer, effective May 12th, 1942, and on motion of W. H. Brazil_, seconded by R. P. Howell, it was ordered that the resignation be accepted. The report of the Police Judge for the month of April, 1942 was ordered re- ceived and filed. The petition of Bob Crossman for permit to hold a Dance at 1190 Tvlonterey St. on the evening of May 9, 1942 was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Re: Applications for licenses for Mrs. Thelma Ibanez and George Mamaril were again held over. The applications for license for Dorothy White for Mdse. ( Confectionery, Lunch, Soft Drinks) and Cigars Sideline at 1240 Monterey St. was granters on motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by R.P.Howell. The applications for licenses for Vernabel Lee for Soft Drinks , Cigars Sideline and Restaurant at 406 Higuera St.ware granted on motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by R.P.Eowell. Ordinance No. 240 (New Series) - An Ordinance establishing an Auxiliary Police Force and Providing for its Use and Control was.finally passed on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: W.H; Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball Noes: None absent: Joseph Leary The bill of Cline's Electric Shop in the amount of $624.68, less a credit of $15.78 was ordered paid out of the Public Improvement and Betterment Fund on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. Resolution No. 664 (New Series) - A Resolution granting an easement to the United States of America to construct water pipe lines under and on certain real property owned by the City of San Luis Obispo and providing for the execution of a deed granting such easement was passed and adopted on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by W.H. Brazil upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: i'1.H. Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball Noes: None Absent: Joseph Leary Ordinance No. 241 (New Series) - An Ordinance providing for the control of Food and Drink Establishments in the City of San Luis Obispo and.providing penalties for the violation of such ordinance was introduced and passed to print on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by el. H. Brazil, ur,on the following roll call vote: Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball Noes: None Absent: Joseph Leary The City Attorney was directed to draw up a Resolution for the appointment of Leonard Lenger as Building Inspector for the City of San Luis Obispo to fill the vacancy per month of W. D. Sanford at a compensation of $25.00/= to be paid out of the AdministratiDn Fund. Communication received from Mr. J. Early Boyce marring application for positi as City Treasurer. Discussion was had and on moti, >ncf W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, it was moved that the nominations be closed. Motion carried. On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil it was moved that J. -Earle Boyce be appointed as City Treasurer to fill the unexpired term of Mr. J. C. James, deceased, subject to the Ccunci�'s approval of Mr. Boyce's surety bond, upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C.
