The following permits were granted on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by ',N.H.

S.P. Milling- Co. - Permit to ramp walk for a distance of 12 ft on the east
side of Santa Barbara Ave. between High and Uphma Sts.
'The application 'of YJalter Bros. for 'registm tion as a class "E" Contractor to-
gether with The Aetna Casualty and Surdty Co. bond in the amount of $500.00 and regis-
tration fee of $315.00 received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H.Brazil
it was ordered thwt the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration granted.
lotification received from the State Board of Equalization re: transferring "Off
Sale Distilled Spirits" from Albert A. Bay to Albert A. Bay and Ed Greenall dba Bay's
Market was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and
report.
Re: Communication from the Southern Pacific Co.-relative to condition of crossings
at Marsh and Higuera Streets. Same was ordered received and filed as was also the com-
munication from the Auto Club of Southern California regarding new type of Stop Si,Sns, on
motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil.
Communication received from the City of Salinas in reply to our letter regarding
,.var risk insurance carried by their city. Same was ordered filed.
Communication received from E. G. Van Leauwen regarding the condition of crossings
on Idarsh and Higuera Streets. Same was ordered filed.
The following informal bids were received for the installation of a pump at the cit
farm as requested by Kenneth Beck, City.Engineer:-

Farmers Hdv.,e. and Equil_ment Co. 386.25 plus ?11.14 sales tax

On motion of R.F. Howell, seconded by IN H. Brazil the above bids were referred to the City
Engineer, Kenneth Beck, for investigation ;ind report back to the Council as to his findings
Re: Notification received from the State Board of Equalization relative to transfer
of "Off Sale Beer and Nine" license from A.A. Bay to Albert A. Bay and Ed Greenall was agai
held over as was also the claim against the City from Anita M. and Edwin 'Walter Unangst.
On motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. 1. Howell, Miss Charlotte Miller was
granted raise in salary from x.'110 to $125.per month effective August 1, 1942.
