City Council met in adjourned session; Mayor F. C. Kimball presiding. Present: R.F.__owell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F.C.-Kimball, Joseph Leary , Absent: W. H. Brazil The following applicationsfor permit to build were granted on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy: A. Fisk - Single car garage and storeroom; Pt. Lots 7 & 8, Block 173 Dallidet Addn. Cost $ 475.00 Patrick C. Brown - Canopy ovar house trailer, Lot 3, Blk. 119A bi & C . Addn. 45.00 M. F. J"mith - Cement foundation under existing bldg. Lot 10, Blk 39 Southside Addn. Cost 100.00 County of San Luis Obispo - Move Temporary sheriff's bldg.to Lot 29 Blk 249 where it will be used for temporary agriculture quarters. - County of San Luis Obispo- Raze old Hall of Records - Pt. Lot 1, Blk 24, - Communication received from Anita Hathway regarding the placing of a fire plug nn Ellen stay and Third Street for fire protection to houses in that neighborhood. Same was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, R.P. Howell, with power to act, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. filed. The Treasurer's report for the month of July, 1942 was ordered received and Claim filed by Victor Tarwater against the Administration Fund in the amount of $27.95 for reimbursement of two ladders and two planks destroyed by the city crew burning lots was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with-power to act, on motion of Ralph C. Communication received from iJ.,M. Reed together with letter from Dr. George K..Dunklee e.nd Dr. Jos. G. Middleton addressed to the City Council asking that he be re- instated in the fire department. Same was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, W.H. Brazil, on motion of R. P.Howell, seconded by Ralph C.Kennedy. Re: Petition filed by Ida M. Holdsworth et al relative to extension of Fig Street to Hathway Ave. and Toro Street from Olive Street: Safe was referred to the City Engineer for report at a previous meeting. Leonard Lenger, Assistant City Engineer, presented Engineer's estimate of the cost of opening Toro Street from Fig to Olive Streets and Fig Street from Santa Rosa to Hathway Ave., the total construction cost being $4115.00; After discussion same was referred back to the Engineering Department with instructions to get the cost on securing right -of -ways which will be necessary to complete the work as outlined in the estimate and drawings submitted. Re: Communication from the Treasury Dept. relative to a 106 payroll deduction. Same was again held over pending further information from Commissioner Ralph C. Kennedy.
