City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor F. C. Kimball presiding.
Present: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F.C.Kimball, Joseph Leary

The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of R.P..

location for Chitwood's Bootery at 860 Higuera Street was grantedon motion of I.H.Brazil,
seconded by R. P. Howell, with the provision that sign be hung under the supervision of
the City Engineer and existing ordinance.
The application of Elsie n. Villa for permit to connect with sewer on Francis
Street near Victoria Street was referred to the CoWissioner of Public Works, with power
to act.
The application of the Santa Barbara Glass Co. for registration as a Class "E"
Contractor, together with United Pacific Insurance Co. Bond in the amount of $500.00
and registration fee of $15.00 received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by
R.P.Hor,ell it was ordered that the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration
granted.
Re: Communication from W. P:. Reed relative.to being reinstated in the Fire
Department: Same was ordered received and filed on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by
R. P. Howell.
Re: Communication from the Treasury Department,Tr,Tar Savings Staff regard to
instituting a payroll deduction plan for the purchase of war bonds and stamps. Upon
mction of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by V9.4, brazil the. City Attorney was instructed to
bring in an Ordinance. whereby the City could adopt. the -plan as outlined in the letter.
The communication was ordered received and filed.
Ordinance No. 243 (New Series) - An Ordinance Levying a Tax for the current
fiscal year 1942 -1943 upon all taxable property within the City of San Luis Obispo and
fixing the rate of such tax was finally passed on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by V1. H.
Brazil upon the following roll call vote:

Communication from Anita M. Hathway relative to placing a fire plug. on Ellen
Way was ordered received and filed.
