Regarding the claim filed by Victor Tarwater in the amount of $27.95 for
replacement of 2 ladders and 2 planks destroyed by fire, caused by city crew burning grass
on `!7alter Ramage's property; the City Clerk was instructed to write Mr..Tarwater. for
further information regarding this claim.
Re: Petition filed by Ida Holdsworth et al relative to opening of certain
streets was again held over.
Commissioner Ralph C. Kennedy reported on the war risk insurance taken out
by the City of San Luis Obispo; he stated that the endorsement had been pproved; and
would be presented to the Council at the next meeting.
Ord motion of N.H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, the meeting adjourned
to September 14, 1942 at 7:30 P. M. upon the following roll call vote:

The Merchandising Bond of Robert F. McCue in the amount of $200.00 with the
U.3. fidelity and Guaranty Co. as surety was received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy,
seconded by W. H. Brazil, the surety was accepted, bond approved and license ordered issued

Higuera St. dba as Checker Cab Co., was granted on motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by Ralph
C. Kennedy.
Communication received from the City of Los Angeles enclosing a copy of
resolution their city adopted, requesting the support of the League of California Cities
and other communities for legislation to secure the 1/2 cent out of the 3 cent State
Sales Tax, was referred to the City tittorney for investigation and report back to the

The City Clerk's report for the month of August, 1942 was ordered received and
The payroll of September 15th for city employees was presented to the Council.
Claims were ordered paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective depart-
ments and the Mayor, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil.
Regarding the claim of Hollis Brown in the amount of $87.50; Joseph Leary stated
that this claim be denied as he is 3000 miles away from his place of employment. Motion
lost for want of a second,
The application of Russell Bros.. for license for circus to be held on September
19, 1942.was granted on motion of N. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy.
The Voluntary Payroll Allotment Plan submitted by the Guarantee Building and
Loan Assn. Was ordered received and filed on advice of the City Attorney.
Re: Petition of Ida Holdsworth et al, together with City Engineer's report as
to the proposed cost of Toro Street opening was ordered received and filed.
The revised schedule covering the city buildings and property for the war risk
insurance of the City of San Luis Obispo was approved by the Council and the policy was
ordered filed.
Jack Gooding and Clyde O'Nan asked the members of the Council to be present at
the Court House lawn at 10 o'clock A.M. Tuesday 6ept. 15th, to open the scrap drive.
Some of the members of the Council promised to be there.
Resolution No. 681 (New Series) - A Resolution appointing Harold B. Lee as
Inspector in connection with the construction of the Sewage Disposal Plant was adopted
on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by W.H.Brazil, upon the.f ollowing vote:

Absent: None
Commissioner Joseph Leary was instructed by the Council to have the Pacific
Gas and Electric Co. change the sodium vapor lights at the intersection of Marsh and
Broad and Santa Rosa and Monterey Streets to regular street light globes.
On motion of W.E.Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, the meeting adjourned.
