Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Absent: None The following application for permit to build was granted on motion of R. 1'. Howell, seconded by VI. H. Brazil: V,;.A`% .Rombalaki - Addn. of bedroom to present bldg. Lot 51 B1k. 11, a We,ills; Addn. Cost 175.00 Petition filed by A. 0. Johnson, for permit to hang a banner across the street in front of the Presbyterian Educational Building on October 9, 10, 11th was granted on motion of W.H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell, with the provision that same will be hung under.the supervision of the City Engineer and existing ordinance.. The following applications for city licenses were referred to the,Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on motion of R. P..Howell, seconder by W. H. Brazil: Mabel McClure - Ciperina Ramil - Lena Uwanowich - Lodging House ( Soft Drinks ( Cigers Sideline ( Restaurant Palmistry 1635 Chorro St. 879 Palm St. The application for license to hold a.dance filed by M. V. Limon to be held on the night of Oct. 2, 1942 at the Mission Gym was granted on motion.of Vd. H. Brazil, sec by R. 1'. Howell. Communication received from O. M. Williams, bringing to the attention of the City Council the condition of the water mains on Meinecke St. between North Broad and Benton ';lay. Same was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for.investigation and report. Communication received from Flo Lund of the Women's Field Hospital end Am- bulance Corps requesting permission to make a drive for funds. Same was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety. filed. The Treasurer's report for the month of August, 1942 was ordered received and The following is a list of informal bids,on insurance on City of San Luis Obispo's motorized equipment for Public Liability and Property Damage as per minutes of Sept. 21, 1942, and which said bids were publicly opened and read: 1. M. Lewin & Son St. Paul Mercury Indemnity Co. 2. L. TN. Kamm Central Surety and Insurance Co. 3. Evans Brokerage Co. Connecticut Indemnity Co. 4. Fred L. Gist American Automobile Ins. Co. The above bids were checked by the Commissioner of Finance and the City Attorney, and, it appearing that the bid of Evans Brokerage Co. on behalf of the Con- necticut Indemnity Co. in the amount of $494.28 was the lowest and best bid received, it was moved by Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil that the bid of Evans Brokerage Co. be accepted. Motion carried. Resolution providing for salary payroll deductions was again held over as was also the communication from the City of Los Angeles relative to a request for 1/2 cent out of the 3 cent State Sales Tax. On motion of W. F. Brazil, seconded by Joseph Leary, the City Clerk was in- strutted to order a suitable floral piece for the funeral of John Norton. Joseph Leary was requested to obtain bids for additional radio equipment for the police dept. as requested by the Sacramento Office and Federal Communication com- ssion to insure better control over outgoing messages. 1 n 1 Lam'
