Kennedy, F. C Kimball, Joseph Leary Absent: None The application of Henry Berkemeyer to break curb and ramp walk for drive- way for a distance of 12 ft. on the south side of Higuera Street between Broad and Nipomo Streets was granted on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by --W. H. Brazil; work to be done under the supervision of the engineering department.. The application of Cery Arcaina for Soft Drinks at -834 Palm St, was re- ferred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. Notification received from the State Board of Equalization re: "On Sale Beer" license for ?!Tilliam Lehnhoff, dba "Lucky's Service Center, 406 Higuera St. Same was ordered received and filed, as was also the-letter received from Guido Santini tendering his resignation as Poundmaster due to his undinction into the armed forces. Communication from Mrs. L. T. ','lade, re: power poles surrounding her property was again referred to Commissioner Kennedy. Com:aunication received from the County Board of Supervisors requesting the city to install two street lights on Osos St. between Monterey and Palm Streets was referred to Commissioner Leary for investigation and report. The following reports for the month of March 1943 were ordered received .and filed: Report of the Police Dept., Police Judge and City Collector. The application of Rose S. Davis for rooming house license at 1219 Osos Street was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell. Petition of Henry Gilarti for permit,to install underground storage tank was granted on motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by K.P. Howell; work to be done under the supervision of the city engineering department and existing ordinance. The communication from Vincent Munch tendering his resignation from the Police Department was read and on motion of VI.H.Brazil, seconded by R.P.Howell, same was accepted as of Feb. 1, 1943; Joseph Leary voting "No ". Re: Petition of J. A. Bardin for consent to transfer bus franchise from J. G. Jones to J. A. Bardin was ordered received and .filed; new petition to be presented later. Resolution No. 690 (New Series) A -tescl:ition accepting a right of may deed from Chester E. Bruce and Arabella Bruce was passed and adopted on motion of R.F. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: VI.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None Pdayor Kimball asked the Council to consider supplying a clerk for the ration board stating the Government has not-provided adequate help at the board and thinks the city and county both should provide a clerk to help clear the congestion. 1 1 I The Council waived the reading of the minutes of March 15th and March 29th, 1943. On motion of P. P. Howell, seconded by W.H. Brazil the following b!zild- ing permits were granted: L. W. Leeman - Addn, to present.bldg. as sleeping room - Pt. Lots 2 and 3, Block 187 -B Ingleside Addn. Cost 100.00 Mrs. R.L.
