City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor F.C.Kimball presiding.
Present: N.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F.C. Kimball, Joseph Leary
Absent: None
On motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary the application of P.
Negranti for sidewalk on the east side of Nipomo Street bet"een Monterey and Palm Streets
was granted; work to be done under the supervision of the Engineering Department.
The following applications for transfer of licenses were referred to W. H.
Brazil for investigation and report, on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by W.H.Brazil:
Transfer of license from Pete Grant for Vending Machines to Robert R. Donahue
Transfer of license from Mae Cole ( Cosmetics) to Blanche Jackson
Transfer of License from Robt. Danneberg ( Comet Delivery Service) to 'S. R. Spencer
The application of'Joe Perry for registration--as a Class "E" Contractor
together with Great American Indemnity Co. bond in the amount of'$1000. and registration
fee of $15.00 received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R.P.Howell, it was
ordered that the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration granted.
The application of.Cery Arcaina for license for Soft Drinks at 834 Palm Street
was granted on motion of '!T.H.Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy.
Re: Communication from Count9r of San Luis Obispo relative to street lights
being installed on Osos Street; same was ordered filed.
On motion of 11. H. Brazil, seconded by R.P. Howell, the Commissioner of Public
Works was authorized by the Council to proceed with construction of a drainage system on
Hiph Street alongside of Southern Pacific Milling Company Lumber..yard.
On motion of ,'?. H. Brazil, seconded by R.P. Howell, V. S. Branson was appointed
Special Police Officer to serve without compensation.' from the City of San Luis Obispo,
as outlined in Section 5 of Ordinance No. 5 (New Series):
On motion of "l. H. Brazil, seconded by R.P.Howel the City Clerk was authorized
to hire an Assistant clerk at $105.00 per month for a period of 90 days from day of em-
ployment.
In accordance with the provisions of.Charter regulations, the Council acting as
a canvassing board, now proceeded to nanvass returns of the General Municipal Election and
Consolidated Charter Amendment Election held on Monday, April 5, 1943. Tabulation following
shows results of votes cast at such election and as canvassed by the_City Council. The
number of votes cast at such election being 1&38 with the City of San Luis Obispo and 87
in theConsolidated precincts outside the city, voting on School Directors only:
