Due to the fact that it :vas impossible to count and canvass the absentee `
votes the matter of completing the canvass was continued to Monday, April 12, 1943 at
7:30 P. M.
Re: Compensation of Election Officers for General Municipal Election and
Consolidated Charter Amendment Election of April 5. 1943: It was moved by R.P.Hoviell,
seconded by W. H. Brazil that Election Officers serving :within the City of San Luis
Obispo be compensated in the amount of $10.00 each for their service; that Election
Officers serving in the special precincts outside the city of San Luis Obispo be allowed
?6.00 each for their service.
Re: Rental for Precinct Polling Places for General Municipal Election and
Consolidated Charter Amendment Election, April 5, 1943; It was moved by R.P.Howell,
within
seconded by ill. H. Brazil that rental for precinct polling places, the City be fixed at
?'8.00 each; that rental for precinct polling places outside the city be fixed at $6.00
each.
On motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by W.H. Brazil, it was ordered the canvass
be received and approved and noted in the minutes upon the following roll call vote:

City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor F. C. Kimball presiding.

Absent: None
On motion of R.P.Howell , seconded by W.H.Brazil the following permits were
granted:
Mrs. Laurice Filipponi = Garage - Pt Lot 42 Blk. 349 Cost 200.00
James Custer - 40 ft-. of sidewalk on the easterly side of Santa Rosa St.
between Buchon and Islay :3treets

The following applications for transfer of licenses were granted on notion of
%'.H.Brazil, seconded by R.P.Howell:
Pete Grant-- License for vending machines to Robert Donahue
Mae Cole - Mdse. License to Blanche Jackson.
of ert Danneberg - Delivery License to S.R. Spencer
Petition filed by J. E. McClure for permit to erect a sign in the 1100 block
Monterey Street for the Red Cross Headquarters was granted on motion of W.H.Brazil,
seconded by R.P.Howell.
Communication from Eric J. Leland asking the Council to release F.D.Metzler
and R.C. Davis as surety on his Merchandising Bond as he is closing his business to enter
defense v;ork, and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Fd. H. Brazil, it was ordered
the surety be released.
The Council acting as a canvassing board, now proceeded to canvass and count
the absentee ballots for the General Municipal Election and Charter Amendment Election
held April 5, 19430

Resolution.No. 691 (New Series) - A Resoluti ^n Declaring the results of
the General Municipal Election held on April 51 1943 was passed and adopted on motion
of R.P.Howell, seconded by W.H.Brazil by the following vote:
Ayes: W.H.Brazil,R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy,F.C.Kimball, Joseph Leary
Noes: None
Absent: None
Resolution No. 692 (New Series - A Resolution Declaring and finding that
two proposals Amending the Charter of .the City of San Luis Obispo submitted to the
qualified voters of said city on April 5, 1943, received the vote of a majority of all
the voters voting on such propositions was introduced and adopted on motion of R.P.Howell
seconded by W.H.Brnzil upon the following vote:
Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Houell, Ralph C. Kennedy,F.C.Kimball, Joseph Leary
Noes: None
Absent: None
The new petition filed by J. A. Bardin asking for transfer of the Bus
Franchise held by J. G. Jones was referred to the City Attorney for investigation and report.
Commissioner R.P.Howell stated he would like to have the week of April 26th
to 11ay 1st as "Clean Up" week; city trucks would be available at this time.
On motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by R.P.Hotiaell, the meeting adjourned.
