City Hall, Yonday, May 3, 1943 - 7:30 P. Li.
City Council met in regular session; Mayor F. C. Kimball presiding.
Present: W.H. Brazil, R. P. Howell, Halph C. Kennedy, F. U. Kimball, Joseph Leary
Absent: None
The minutes of April 19th, 1943 were read and approved as read.
On motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil, the following permits
to build were granted, providing the work conforms with the Building code and Building
Inspector:-
H. & D. Rosenkranz - Alter store bldg. to make sleeping rooms and shop;
rt. of Lot 1, B1k. 881, M.& C Addn. Cost 200.00
H. & D. Rosenkranz- To alter and install partitions in present bldg.
for sleeping room Cost 200.00
The following applications for sidewalk and curbing were granted on motion
of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil:
M.J. Smith - 60 ft. of sidewalk and curbing on the west side of
Toro St. between i-Iontalban and Olive Streets
Fred Bovee- Patch 38 ft. of curb and 100 Sq. Ft, sidewalk on
Court Street, Block 17
A.D. 71allace - 56 ft. of sidewalk on the north side of Buchon St.
between Santa Rosa and Toro Streets.
Jos. Berkemeyer - Patch 21 Sq. Ft. of sidewalk in front of Fremont Garage,
.Lot 8, Block 23
Fitzgerald Estate- Patch 358-sq. ft. of sidewalk on the south side of Marsh
St. between Ososand Santa Rosa Streets.
The permit filed by Tom Smith for 4 ft. sidewalk in front of Lot 10,
Block 10, Anholm Tract was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to ac
The following applications for city licenses were referred to the Commis
of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report:
Mrs. George White - Lodging House ( 5 rooms) 1312 Broad St.
Dina Johne - Mdse - Books 1021 Morro St.
The Merchandising Bond of 'il. H. Hawley for a Novelty Store at 1046 Chorro
Street, together with certified check in the amount of $200 as surety was received and
on motion of 'N. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell the surety was accepted and license
ordered issued.
The tr::nsfer of license from Lettie C. Butler ( Butler!s Grocery) at
1725 Broad Street to James F. and Ruth A. Bond was granted in motion of 'd.H. Brazil,
seconded by R.P.Howell.
The following communications and reports were ordered received and filed
on motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by R.P.Howell:
Communication from Glen 'aVyatt relative to holding a street dance for Victory Bond Rally
on Tday 5, 1943.
Communication from League of California Cities to Assemblyman Fred Weybret
Communication from Pacific Gas and Electric Co. regarding Mrs. '.'Jade's property in
Mt. Pleasanton.
Report of the City Collector for the month of April, 1943

Claims against the city for the month of April were ordered paid subject
to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor.

The bond of J. A. Bardin for bus franchise was referred to the City Atto
Re: Communication from ':d. L. Payton relative to condition of the W. 0. W.
Building was again referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report at
the next meeting on motion of '11. H. Brazil, seconded by Joseph Leary.
