Howell, the ordinance granting such franchise, entitled, "An Ordinance granting to Pacific Gas and Electric Company, its successors and assigns, the franchise to use, for trans mitting and distributing electricity within the City of San Luis Obispo for any and all purposes other than those authorized under Section 19 of Article XI of the Constituti6n of the State pf California as said Section existed prior to its amendment on October 10, 1911, all poles, wires, conduits and appurtenances which are now or may hereafter be lawfully placed in the Public Streets, Ways and Places within said city, and to construct and use in said Public Streets, Ways and places all poles, wires, conduits and appurtenances, including communication circuits, necessary or proper for said purposes was passed to print,upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Clyde T. O'Nan Noes: Joseph Leary Absent: None On motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the Mayor andCity Clerk was authorized to sign release, covering damages on city police car; damage paid by Anchor Casualty Co. in the amount of $174.01 and check: signed over to J.J.Dunne Garage. The ne:r proposed Water Ordinance presented by R. P. Howell was referred to the City :attorney for study and report. The application of Dina Johne for license for L•Idse. Communication received from the League of California Cities outlining an Ordinance governing new electrical code was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for study, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. The application of A. C. Burnett for position as Police Officer was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell. The following notifications received from the State Board of_Equalization were ordered received and filed oh motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary: Transfer, !'On sale beer and wine" license from V.V.Costa to Julia C. Costa; for "On s le r,eer" license from Susie Pettenger 8. Lloyd I. Pettenger to Franc -d. and Gladys L. & Tohn F. and Emma Funk, dba "Pettengers ". License for Ulart Rosenthal for "Off sale beer and wine" at 447 Higuera St. Report of the City Clerk for the month of May 1943 was ordered received and filed. The insurance policy ( London & Lancashire Indemnity Co.) No. A -33465 posted by J. A. Bardin, dba Green Bus Service was approved by the City Attorney as to form and the City Council as to sufficiency and ordered filed with the City Clerk. The applications for renewal of quarterly city licenses were presented to the Council, and on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R.P.Howell, same were ordered renewed with the exception of licenses for Chas. Jackson, 866 Palm St., which were denied, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. The petitions filed by Cline's Electric Co. for sign permits were granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell; work to be done under the supervision of the city engineering department andexisting ordinance: The Independent, 971 Osos St. - Electric sign G. S. Bay for Lodging House at 1190 Montemy St. was again held over. Resolution No. 700 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the execution of an Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and Pacific Gas and Electric Co. was passed and adopted on motion of R.
