The City Council met in regular session - Mayor F. C. Kimball presiding.

The minutes of December 6th were read and approved as read.
The following building permits were granted on motion of R.-P. Howell,
seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy:

report on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy.
The petition filed by the Southern Counties Gas Co. for perrd t to
replace old main on Buchon St. at intersection of Beebee and High Streets was.granted
on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy; work to be done under the super-
vision of the City Engineering Department.,

The application filed by A. E. Shank and D. H. Boling for a.Special

The claim filed by Falcon Co. on the City Farm Fund in the amount of
$188 for one flask of mercury was allowed on motion of P. P. Ho ,,ell, seconded by Joseph
Leary.
The City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on the 1915 Seagrave
Fire Engine to be sold at public auction to the highest bidder_at the meeting of said
City Council to be held at the Council Chambers in the City Hall on Tuesday, December
28th at 10 o'clock A.M. - sale subject to a minimum bid of $1700.
On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the following

The applications for renewal of city licenses for the Jani.E ry 1944 quarter were
presented to the Council and on motion of Joseph Leary, secondedmby R. P. Howell, same
were ordered renewed.
This being the date fixed by the Council as per minute order of December 6th
to receive bids on one 193D Model A Ford Pickup truck as advertised; as no bid was re-
ceived the sale of the truck was referred to Commissioner of Public '.'dorks,.with power to
act, with instructions to sell at a minimum price of not less than $75.00.
The petition filed by Farmers Hardware and Equipment Co. for permission to move
signs from 675 Higuera street to 581 Higuera St. was granted on motion of Joseph Leary,
seconded by R. P. Howell; work to be done under the supervision of the Engineering De-
partment.
The following communications were ordered received and filed:

Gn motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kalnedy, the Mayor was authorized
to sign the Chlorine Contract for 1944 between the City of San Luis Obispo and the Luippold
Engineering Sales Co.
The following delinquent licenses for the October quarter were ordered cancelled
on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R.P. Howell:

On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, Mr. Schultz, acting
Building Inspector, Was authorized to make electrical inspection on the Federal Housing
is and ordered the Pacific Gas and E1ec. Co. to render electric service. '2dr. Howell
presented a letter from F. R. ':leeks, Engineer' on the units, assuring the City that all
Drdinancces, underwriters, stipulations, etce have been complied with. Joseph Leary voting
"No ", claiming the Government fail -ed to obtain.a permit and file plans at the time of
starting construction.
Ordinance No. 253 (New Series) - An Ordinanee prohibiting the discharge of
;ertain substances into the sanitary sewer system of the City of San Luis Obispo, declaring
s ordinance to be an urgency ordinance and providing penalties for the violation thereof
