Present: R.r.Hovyell,Ralph C.Kennedy,F.C.Kimball,Joseph Leary, Clyde T. O'Nan Absent: None The minutes of June 19th and June 26th, 1944 were read and approved as read. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the following Building permits were granted: IAlbert Nelson - Petition in store bldg. Lot 7.. Blk. 7, Wickenden Estate - Install fixtures and partition in present bldg., Block 13, Frank Arbini - H. J. Dubin - Rebuild porch Lot 92 Blk 10, Weills Addn. Garage - Pt. Lot 6, Blk 382 Cost $ 150.00 " 600.00 " 350.00 " 250.00 Hans F & Ina P Hymoller - Remodel Barn into Garage - Lot 15, B1k.62 It 200.00 On motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by Joseph Leary the City Clerk was in- structed to return the $3.00 penalty collected on building permit filed by Mission Tailor- ing Service ( 'Xickenden Estate) On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by ClydeT. O'Nan the following sidewalk permits were granted; work to be done under the supervision of the Engineering Department: A. J. Matjeck - 50 ft. of 5 ft. sidewalk on the west side of ;lard St. between High and Sandercock Streets L. E. Hair - 50 ft. of 5 ft. sidevial: on the west side of Ward St. between High and Sandercock Streets The petition filed by Ralph E. Daniels to move Neon sign from 998 Higuera St. to 647 Higuera St. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety with power to act, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. The application of H. H. Anderson and.Celeste Williamson for City Licenses for Restaurant, Cigars Sideline and Soft Drinks was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell. Notification received from the State Board of Equalization for license appli- cationfor "On Sale Beer" filed by Allen M. Calkins dba Tower Cafe at 427 Higuera St. was ordered filed on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. The following applications for transfer of licenses were granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell: New Park Grocery , J. E. Quaresma, at 1401 Osos St. to 0. G. Pennington; People!s Cash Store, Max Ossman, at 698-Higuera St.to Alice S. Witcosky, dba San Luis Market ( Groceries and meats) Lawrence Austin, dba Austins Confectionery, at 868 Monterey St. to J. A. Moore for Restaurant and Cigars Sideline, dba "Austins ". Communication from M. R. T:cLaughlin submitting his resignation as Poundmaster was accepted and ordered filed. Communication from the War Price & Rationing Board as::ing the City to. consider allowance to Mr. Andrew McKie for salary as part time clerk at the local ration board. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary it was ordered Mr. McKie be allowed $18.50 per month as of July 1, 1944 to be paid out of the Administration Fund. The following reports were ordered received and filed on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan: City Collector's report for the month of June 1944 Police Judge's report " It " " ^ Police Dept. it " " It " IT Claims against the City for the month of June were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor, the ' application filed by the Methodist Church Housing Committee for Rooming House License at iO3 Santa Barbara Ave. was held over.
