The report of the City Clerk for the month of June, 1944 was ordered received On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan the following claims were ordered paid: To: Collector of Internal Revenue ( 'Xithholding Tax Fund) Amt. $2647.24 " Treasurer of the United States ( 'later Fund) " 1752.40 " State Compensation Ins. Fund ( Administration Furl) " 2812.98 The bond posted by Walter Roselip covering contract for the grading., repair- ing and repaving a portion of Osos St. was approved, surety accepted and the Mayor was authorized to sign the contract, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R.P.Howell. Resolution No. 724 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for a General and Uniform increase in compensation to officers and employees of the City of San Luis Obispo was passed and adopted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary upon the following vote: Ayes: R.P.Ho:vell, Ralph C.Kennedy, F.C.Kimball, Joseph Leary, Clyde T. O'Nan Noes: None Absent: None The petition filed by Ralph E. Daniels for permission to move neon sign to 647 Higuera St. was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell. The application filed by the Methodist Church committee for Rooming House license at 103 Sta. Barbara Ave. was again held over. Communication from the League of California Cities outlining the benefits the cities derive from Senate Bill No. 48 was again discussed; same was referred to the City :attorney. On motion of Ralph C. E. S`ia11 - 350 ft. sidewalk on the north side of Mission-St. between Chorro and Lincoln Streets. Rudolph I:4arshall - 71 ft. of sidewalk on the west side of Carmel St. between Pacific and Pismo Streets George E. Pounder & Frank_ Adler- - 50 ft. of curb and walk on the west side of Carmel St. between Pacific and Pismo Streets. Petition of John E. Smee for permit to trench across street to lay sewer lines to new houses in block 14 & 16, Anholm Tract was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer- ing Dept. The application of Southern Counties Gas Co. for permit to install 31:7 . main on Santa Rosa S.t...betwieen Lontalbon and the old Creek bridge on Santa Rosa St.was granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary with the provision that the work be done under the supervision of the Engineering Department. The petition filed by Freeman Sign Service asking permission to hang sign for Mission Tailoring Service at 863 Monterey St. and for Pearson Glass Shop at 673 Higuera St. was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineering Department. The application for transfer of license of 'dideawake Cafe, 1129 Monterey St. from Joseph Soroka to Marie V. Rose was referred to the Cola issioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. Notifications received from the State Board of Equalization for transfer of licenses for the following: " On Sale Beer and Wine" license from Lawrence Austin to John A. Moore, dba "Austin's ". " Off -Sale Beer and Wine" License from Joseph E. ,�uaresma to Oliver G. Pennington, dba New Park Grocery. " Off -Sale Beer and Wine" license for Fred K. Brown dba Brown & Doyle at 1026 Morro St. "Off -Sale Dist. Spts." License from Fred K. Brown & Elbert P. Smith to Fred K. Brown, dba Brown & Doyle, and on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, the above notifications were ordered filed. The application of Harald P?. Nielsen for registration as a Class "D" con- tractor together with U.S. Fidelity and Guaranty Co. bond in the amount of X1000 and registration fee of $25.00 received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell it anus ordered that the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration granted, The Treasurer's•reports for the months of isay and June 1944 were ordered received and filed. The request of J. Earle Boyce, City Treasurer,'to leave the State for a period of three or Four weeks was granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Jose Leary. Motion carried. The application for Rooming House license filed by the Methodist Church Committee was again held over. Communication from League of California Cities regarding Senate Bill No. 48 was ordered received and filed for future reference. On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary the Commissioner of Public :'Forks was authorized to run a full width sidewalk in front .of city owned pro- perty, namely, Lot 15, Block 16, Anholm Tract. 1 1 1 1
