Kimball Absent:�Joseph Leary, Clyde T.. O'Nan The minutes of Sept. 18th, 1944 were read and approved as read. The following building permits were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy: 'J: M. Gaskell - Move bldg. into City and remode; into sleeping room to Lots 2 & 3, Block 3, Norton Addn. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the following petitions re granted: tition filed by Clines Electric to hand; neon sign for Smart Shop at 1112 Chorro St. " Smee Plumbing Co. to open street on Beebee St. to repair sewer line The Merchandising bonds of Bert Slatin in the amount of $200 with the London Lancashire Indemnity Co. as surety, and that of James N. Ewers & Betty Ann Ewers in the unt of X200 with the Sun Indemnity Co. as surety were received and on motion of Ralph . Kennedy, seconded by R. P. vowell the surety was. accepted, bonds approved and license issued. The applicationof J. H. Whitaker-for Mdse. The application of the Stag Billiard Parlor.for card table licenses was re- red to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. The following applications for transfer of licenses were referred to the Com- ssioner of Public Health & Safety for investigation and report: Transfer of Restaurant from Merle's ( M. R. Ekegren) at 1057 Monterey St. to Bennett Bray dba "Benny's ". Transfer of Lunch Counter license from Lunds Fountain at 769 Higuera St. to To Righetti dba "Jo's Fountain ". Transfer of Restaurant license from John A. Moore dba Austin's Confectionery at 868 Monterey St. to Charles M. Simon dba Austin's Confectionery Transfer of Restaurant License from Walter Petersen dba Sno -White Creamery at 888 Tvionterey St. to Stanley V. Cole and M. V. Jensen The transfer of license from Neece Bros. for Filling Station at 1088 Higuera St. to H. J. '.'Dills and B. Rude dba Norwalk Station was granted on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Norton dba John Norton Pharmacy at 796 Higuera St. to C.K. Evans, G. H. McCurdy & P. C. Robey, dba Economy Drug Co. Same were ordered received and filed. Communication from Henry C.Dalessi re: lease on the city sewer farm was ordered received and filed on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. Petition filed by R. Marshall et al protesting the moving of a building into the city to be placed on Carmel St. between Pismo and Pacific Streets; samd building to be used for warehouse, and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, same was ordered received and filed. Resolution No. 727 (New Series) - A Resolution endorsing the.War Chest Campaign in the City of San Luis Obispo was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph 8. O'Nan Noes: None The following reports were ordered received and filed on motion of R. P.Howell, seconded by Ralph C. " " Sept. ^ Claims against the city for the month of September were ordered paid, subject to.the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. The city Clerk was requested to call for bids for insurance on city owned equipment - bids to be opened November 6th, 1944 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. The following applications for business licenses were granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell: 1023 Club ( uim.Shepherd ) 4 card tables 1023 Morro St, The Owl Club ( F. Raya) 3 974 Monterey Nick's Place ( Nicolas Raya ) 2 ^ " 974 Monterey R. R. Cigar Store (J.P. Keleher) 1 " 1006 R. R.Ave. The petition of H. Rosenkranz for permit to break pavement was held over. The transfer of license of the Nideawake Cafe at 1129 Monterey St. from Joseph Soroka to Marie Y."Rose was granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy., seconded by R.P.Howell. Applications for renewal of quarterly licenses for the October quarter were granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R.P. Howell. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, Commissioner Clyde T. O'Nan was instructed to purchase proper street markers to be posted at Monterey and Nipomo Streets indicating Dana Street as a dead -end street. On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell, Commissioner Howell was given power to act, authorizing the S.P.R.R. Co. to tap the Steiner Creek supply line and install a 2 inch line in order to protect the railroad trestle near the Goldtree station at a standby charge of $1.50 per month. On motion of Ralph C.
