Kimball, Joseph Leary Absent: Clyde T. O'Nan The minutes of October 2, 1944 were read and approved as read. The following building permits were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy: A. Mai nini - double garage; Pt. Lot 2, Blk. 330 Cost. 300.00 W. T. Edrington - Remodel bldg. and make an addition to bldg. Kennedy the following appli- cations for sidewalk and curbing were granted; work to conform with walks in the neigh- borhood and under the supervision of the City Engineering Department. Quin Spooner - 47 ft. of 5 ft. park walk on the South side of Lit. View St. between Chorro and Broad Streets J. y'dineman & L. Hacker - 100 ft. of 5 ft. sidewalk and curbing on the east side of Broad St. between Lincoln and lit. View Streets Val Soto - 50 ft. of curbing on the east side of Kentucky St. between 2nd and 3rd streets The following petitions were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy; work to be done under the supervision of the city engineering department Petition filed by Archie A. Cheda to open street for sewer line for L.L.Adams at 424 Higuera St. retition filed by Southern Counties Gas Co. to break pavement for gas service at 871 Buchon St. The applications of Ernest B. Lewelling dba =associated Station for Filling Station and Mdse. ( Auto Tires and Tubes) licenses , at Marsh and Higuera Streets were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. The following applications were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health & 3afety for investigation and report on motion of-A. P,. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Sousa and Earl H.Canet was granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded byR.P.Howell. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. The certified check in the amount of $150 posted by Walter Roselip with bid on paving of Osos St. was ordered returned to maker on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R.P. Howell. The 'claim in the amount of $3378.79 on the Withholding Tax Fund payable to the Collector of Internal Revenue to cover tax withheld for the quarter ending September 30,.1944 was allowed, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R.P.Howell.- On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the Mayor was authorized to sigh Memorandum of Agreement with the Division of Highways for expenditure of 1/4 cent gas tax. RESOLUTION NO. 128 (NE101 SERIES) - Resolution of the City Council of the City of San Luis Obispo adopting budget and approving Memorandum of Agreement for expen- diture of 1/4 cent gas tax allocated for streets of Major Importance was a sopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy upon the following vote: AYES: R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary NOES: None ABSENT: Clyde T. O'Nan The application of A. K. %fright for permit to move building to block 50, Reeds Addition for warehouse at a cost of $7500 was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy; Joseph Leary voting "No ". The application of J. H. Whitaker for Mdse ( Confectionery, Lunch, Soft Drinks license at 1029 Morro St.was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded-by Ralph C. Kennedy. The application of the Stag Billiard Parlor for license for card tables was granted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R.P.Howell; Joseph Leary voting "No" The following applications for transfer of licenses were held over for health certificates: Transfer from Merle's Cafe to Benney's Cafe at 1057 Monterey St. "1 " Lunds Fountain to Jo's fountain at 796 Higuera St. Walter Petersen dba Sno 1Ihite to Stanley V.Coleā€¢& M.V.Jensen, 888 Monterey St John A. 1-foore dba Austin's Confectionery to Charles M. Simon The petition of H. Rosenkranz for permit to break pavement at 1300 Broad St. for sever excavatijn was denied on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, Commissioner R. P. Howell was authorized to proceed with the necessary repairs on Chorro St. between Marsh and Pacific Streets as outlined in Engineer's estimate on motion of F.alph,C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell. Vail S. Branson was appointed as regular police officer at a base pay of X175.00 per month on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R.P. Howell. The City Clerk was instructed to ansvier letter from John F. Harrington in vihich he complains the cost for cutting and burning weeds on his property is exorbitant, informing him the protest date has expired. On motion of R.P Howell, seconded by Ralph C.
