hours of 5:30 P.. N1. and 7 A. Ii. the following day and all day Saturday, Sunday and Legal
Holidays:
John Boriack of Boriack Bros. 874 Monterey St. appeared before the Council
requesting driveway to their garage be designated in order to prevent parking, and on
motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, the Chief of Police was in-
strutted to have the driveway marked "RED ".
Re: Communication from Califor „:ia Poly .School requesting city fire equip-
ment to serve outside was denied on motion of Ralph C. i:ennedy, seconded by Joseph
Leary. The Council expressed willingness that the city equipment would assist the school
in case of emergency, but decline to make any written agreement.

The Minutes of December 18th, 1944 were read and approved as read.
On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, the following
building permits were granted:

The following miscellaneous permits were granted on motion of R. P.Howell

The petition of Tomie Jay for permission to remove tree from parkway at
1040 Islay St. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, vjith power to act, on
motion of Ralph C. Fennedy, seconded by Clyde T. 0111an.
The following applications for contractor's licenses were received and
on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, the bonds were approved,
sureties accepted and registration granted:

Claims against the City for the month of December 1944 i °aere ordered paid subject

Communication from Lena Wil4:inson under date of Dec. 24, 1944 addressed to R. P.
Hoaell and council members relative to the condition of sidewalk a ;ong property at Marsh
and Carmel Streets asking that temporary repairs be made by the City and charged to her
and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell, it was ordered that the eiork
be done as outlined in letter as temporary means and to be paid by the property owner.
Communication from Treasury Department, Procurement Division, San Francisco, re:
equipment available for the City of San Luis Obispo was ordered received and filed.

On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary the Mayor was authorized to
si,;n .lgreement with the Division of Highways for water service for the period ending
June 30, 1945.
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'I\Tan it iias ordered the City
of San Luis Obispo renew membership in the League of California Cities for the calendar
year cf 1945 - annual service charge of $225 upon the following roll call vote:
