City Hall, Monday, Feb. 5, 1945 - 7 ;30 P. M,
The City Council met in regular. session - Mayor F. C. Kimball presiding.

The minutes of January 15th, 1945 were read and approved as read.
The following building permits were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconder
by Ralph C. Kennedy:

On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary, the application of
G. W. Baker for permit to repair and alter residence at the end of 13rizzolara St, at a
cost of $ NO was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act,
On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan the following sidewalk
permits were granted: work to conform with walks in district and be done under the
supervision of the. city engineering department:
R. L. Dennis:- 52 ft. of 5 ft. walk and curbing on the South side of
Pacific St. between Santa Rosa and Toro Streets.
J. S. Tiffin - 50 ft. of 5 ft. walk and curb on the South side of Upham
St. between Santa Rosa and Ruth Streets.
Clarence F & Alice J.'Farrar - 75 ft. of full width walk on the north side of
Buchon St. between Sta. Rosa
and Toro Streets,
Pacific Gas & Electric Co, - 350 ft. of walk, curb and gutter on the north side of
Pismo St. between Archer and Walker Streets
Pacific Gas & Llectric Co. - 310 ft. of walk, curb and gutter on the east side of
Walker St. between Pismo and Pacific Streets
Frank Leitner - 50 ft. of walk on the south side of Pismo St. between

The petition of J. W. Louk to open street at 297 Branch St. for sewer repair
was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan.
The petition of A. A. Cheda to open street at 460 No. Broad St. for sewer
repair was granted on motion of 1t. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy.
The petition of Clines;Electric.Shop:�for,_Neon Sign for Loper and Anderson,
'
Higuera and Nipomo Streets was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P.
Hornell; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineering Department and the
existing ordinance,
The petition filed by Harald N. Nielsen ( contract for Steve Zegar) to construct
sewer concrete culvert drain through Lot 2, Block 46 at a cost of X1250, was granted on
motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan; work to be done according to specifi-
cations and under the supervision of the city engineering department.
The following applications for contractor's licenses were received and on
motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, the bonds were approved,.sureties
accepted and registrations granted:
P. J. Zuiderweg - Class "D" - General Contractor - Fee $ 25.00
Chas. F. Bates - Class "E" - Paint Contractor - Fee 15.00
H. N. Mainini - Class "E" 1, Plaster & Cement Contractor Fee 15.00
3 05.6 The application of Bennett Bray for Idse- Confectionery, Lunch Soft Drinks
at 1115 Sta. Rosa-St. (E1'Camino Bowling t.Iley) was held over awaiting an 0. K. from the
Health Department.
The Merchandising Bond of F. C. Kimball in the amount of $200 with the U. S.
Fidelity and Guaranty Co. as surety was received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy,
seconded by R. F. Howell, the surety was accepted, bond approved and .license ordered issued.
The application of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1766, for Carnival at
Toro and Higue ra Streets as outlined in Ordinance 219 (New Series) was referred to the
Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on motion of Ralph
C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan.
The application.for transfer of license of the Checker Cab Co. ( 5 cabs )
from Ray and Jack Riggen at 997 uiguera Wit. to John J. Langdon and W. 0. Hall, dba
Checker Cab Co. was granted on motion of Clyde ". O'P?an, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy.
The application for transfer of John.Patrick for Music Vending Yachines
and Mechanical Amusement Devices, Room 1 Tower Bldg. to'Camden Hathway, was referred to
the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on-motion of
Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded-by-Clyde T. O'Nan.
The following notifications received from the State Board of Equalization
were ordered received and filed, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy:

Communication received from the Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pacific
Re- fire insrection was ordered filed on motion of F. C. _.imball -, seconded by Clyde
T. O'Nan.
Communication from the County Planning Commission relative to meeting of the
Senate Committee on Post War construction to be held on Feb.-8, 1945 at.the County Court-
house; R. P. Howell was appointed to attend the meeting.
Communication from the Chamber of Commerce addressed to the mayor, F. C.
Kimball, together with Resolution relative to the condition of curbs or street markers
in the City of San Luis Obispo was ordered received and filed.
The following reports were ordered received and filed on motion of R. P.
Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy:

The claim of "Yallace & Tiernan Sales Corp. on the Water Fund in the amount of
$4799.37 was approved and ordered paid on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph 0.
Kennedy.
The claim of the Bethlehem Steel Co, on the Public Imp. and Betterment Fund

in the amount of ;xl077.28 -was approved and ordered paid on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy,
seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan.
Claims against the city for the month of January, 1945 were ordered paid,
subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor.
Richard F. Harris and W. 0. Hall appeared before the Council asking for a
Taxi Stand in front of the Greyhound Bus Station and were instructed to continue the use
of a single stand during the 30 days trial of the new Ordinance governing Zoning across
the street.
