HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/30/1945380 Garbage Franchise was again discussed and the City Clerk was instructed to request a certified profit and loss statement as of December 31, 1944 to be submitted by the San Luis Obispo Garbage Company. Commissioner Howell stated the city would have a general clean -up week starting April 30th, to May 5th.,; inclusive. The City Attorney presented a proposed Recreation Ordinance to the Council for discussion, and was instructed to draw up ordinance in line with Charter Provisions on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell; Joseph Leary voting "No ". On motion of Clyde T. .;,O'Nan, seconded by Joseph Leary, Bernhardt Preuss was appointed Library Trastee to fil the vacancy of Mrs. Hub Hollister. On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. O'Nan the following appli- cations were granted; work.to be done under the supervision of the City Engineering Dept: Southern Counties Gas Co. Permit to install service on Murray-St.between Hathway and Stenner Streets Permit to break pavement on Nipomo St. between Islay and Buchon Streets The applications of Polly Cafe, by Colleen A. Whittle, for License for Mdse.( Confectionery, Lunch & Soft Drinks, and Cigars Sideline was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell. A claim in the amount of $693.50 on the Administration Fund filed by Beatrice Sparks for damages and injuries received by reason of defective sidewalk was referred to the City Attorney for investigation and report on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde -T. O'Nan. - Card of appreciation from the ,Veimer family was received and filed. Communication from Meade W. Report of the City Treasurer for the month of March 1945 was ordered - received and filed on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. The profit.and loss statement presented by the S. L. 0. Garbage Co. was referred to the Commissioner of Finance on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. The application of the Southern Counties Gas Co. for permit to install service pipe on Murray St. between Henderson and Murray St. and on 1321 Carmel St. was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan; work to be done under the super- vision of the City Engineer. The application of Russell Bros. for circus to be held on May 3rd, 1945 was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. Communication from the San Luis Obispo Planning Commission Re: City Hall site was ordered received and filed on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R.P.Howell. Communication from the Division of Highways, Re: Post -war Project No. 67 covering construction of a Freeway between Milds Station and the intersection of Marsh and Higuera Streets, together with Agreement covering proposed construction was approved by the following Resolution: Resolution No. 740 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the execution of an Agreement betTrieen the City of San Luis Obispo and the State of California, acting by and through the Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, relating to the construction of a limited Freeway, the closing of Harford Street and the connection of certain city streets to such limited freeway was adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by F. C. Kimball upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Clyde T. O'Nan Noes: Joseph Leary Absent: None Communication from the San Luis Obispo Planning Commission approving the Agreement presented by the Division of Highways was ordered received and filed,. Ed Boyle, Commander of the Local Chapter of the. Military Order of the Purple Heart appeared before the Council requesting appointment of a new Judge for the Soldiers Memorial contest, G'. Wesley Baker was appointed to fill the vacancy of Col. Gilmore. The committee now consists of three members, Clyde T. O'Nan, Ralph C.. Kennedy,G.Wesley City Attorney presented proposed Recreation Playground Ordinance to the Council for consideration and after discussion it was moved by Commissioner. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary that the Ordinance as presented , be held over and presented to the new Administration upon the following vote: Ayes: R. P. Howell, Ralph C.
