Medical Association as to the proper type of equipment. Mayor Kimball reported to the Council, explaining the presence.of algae in the city water and suggested the construction of a filtration plant to insure good water for future use. .On motion of R. P. Joseph Leary I The minutes of April 16th and April 30th, 1945 were read and approved as read. The following building permits viere granted on motion of R. P.. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan: G. B. Richina - Addn. and repairs to residence; Lot 1, Blk 7, S.S.Addn. Cost $2000.00 A. E. Brooking - Brick Bldg. Lot 9, Blk. 105 M. V. Tract ^ 4885.00 . L. A. Gragg - Garage - Isabel Tract " 200.00 A. P. Marshall- Remodel and repair residence; Block 756 , " 500.00 The application of the Harmony Valley Creamery Assn. to recess curb and make present driveway 6 ft. wider on the west side of Nipomo St. between Dana St. and Mill Streets was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineering Department. Petition filed by Cline's Electric for permission to move Neon Sign for San Luis Obispo Paint Co. from 685 Higuera St. to 1126 Broad St. was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan; work to be done under supervision of the City Engineer- ing Department and existing ordinance. The following reports were ordered received and filed on motion of R. P. Communication from Kenneth Beck, City Engineer, together with plans and specifi- cations covering the improvement of State Highway Routes No. 2 and 56 through the City was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, for study and report to City Council on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. Claims against the city for the month of April 1945 was ordered paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. Communication from Harry N.denks offering the City his services as consulting Engineer on the proposed water filtration plant was read to the Council and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. Curtis & Son Re: purchase of rescusitator The matter of submitting a contract for a new franchise for Regulating theCollection and Disposal of Refuse, Garbage Wet Garbage for the City and of San Luis Obispo was now taken up; the following ordinance was passed to print on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T.,O'Nan: Ordinance No. 261 (New Series) - An Ordinance amending sections 5,6, and 10 1 of Ordinance No. 208 (New Series) entitled "An Ordinance regulating the collection and disposal of Refuse, Garbage, ?let garbage and Rubbish in the City of San Luis Obispo, etc., was introduced and -passed.to print this 7th day of May, 1945 upon the following vote: Ayes: R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Clyde T. O'Nan Noes: None Absent: Joseph Leary Resolution No. 741 (New Series) - A Resolution determining and classifying certain streets as streets of Major Importance within the City of San Luis Obispo, for the purpose of expending thereon gas tag funds was passed and adopted this 7th day of May, 1945 by the following vote: Ayes: R.P.Howell, Ralph C.
