Garden St. was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Fred L. Gist.
The application of Lupe Cota dba "Arizona Cafe" at 562 High ra St. for city license
for Restaurant, Cigars :Sideline and Soft Drinks was granted on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan,
seconded by Fred L. Gist,
Notification from the State Board of Equalization Re: Sales Tax rearing in Los
rngeles, June 26th, and on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by Fred L. Gist, the Com-
missioner of Supplies was given further power to send the City Clerk and City Attorney,
if necessary, to attend the hearing.
On motion of'G. W. Baker, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, the Commissioner of Public
Works was authorized to hire a tractor and mowing machine at the rate of ,$2.25 per hre
for the purpose of cutting grass on vacant lots - city to furnish operators.
Commissioner R. P. Howell was granted permission to hire mechanical ditch digger
to extend water lines.
Commissioner Fred L. Gist was appointed ex- officio member of the Planning Commiss
on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan.
On motion of G. W. Baker, seconded by R. P. Howell, the meeting ad,iourned.

The City Council met in regular session - Mayor Ralph C. Kennedy presiding.

The minutes of June 4th and June 11th, 1945 were read and approved as read.
On motion of R. F. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan-the following building
permits were granted:
Fitzgerald Estate - To erect 75 ft. fence, 4 ft. high with sign,
Lot 11, and 12, Block 99 M.V.Tract, Cost 50.00
L. A. Gragg - To move bldg. from Lot 7, Block 116 M & C Addn. to
Isabel Tract - Cor. blurray and Hathway - " P. J. An�eloni- To raze garage - Block 3,
H. J. Bello - Remodel ext. bldg. Part Lots 2 & 3, Block 7, M & C Addn. " 12,000.00
The application of Coast Counties Warehouse for permit to repair and remodel
warehouse on part of Block 153, Harford Addition at a cost of $4500. was referred to the
Commissioner of Public Works with power to act, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by
Fred L. Gist.
Petition filed by H. H..McBride to excavate on Harris St. to connect sewer was
granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by'G. W. Baker; work to be done under the
supervision of the city engineering department.
Petition filed by SantosA. Leguina for permission to install a guy wire over
sidewalk on Mill 3t. between Nipomo and Broad St. to support Light Pole was referred to

Petition filed by San Luis Obispo Ice and Cold Storage to open trench across
Walker St. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act.

Notifications from the State Board of Equalization Re: New licenses issued to

"On Sale Beer" License to Gin Hing and Cow You Gin, dba Me Heng Restaurant and were
ordered received and filed.
Communication fron L. A. Gragg, Building Inspector, Re: Inspection of constructio
1 as required by the Building Code, also suggesting that instructions be printed in pamphlet
form for prospective applicants, and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Fred L. Gist,
the City Clerk was instructed to have the pamphlets printed and notices published in the
newspaper.
Communication from the' Federal Public Housing Authority Re: Concerning the in-
stallation of Off -site water mains and facilities, including one fire hydrant on South
Street, and requested the city's approval of Agreement of the cost price listed at
?3459.00 - city to pay 500 of the cost and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Fred
L. Gist, it was ordered the city enter into Agreement with the F. P. H. A. as requested.
Communication from F. P. H.A. Re: requesting exclusive use of streets for the
duration as indicated on the attached map was referred to the city attorney on motion of
R. P. Howell, seconded by G. ':I.Baker.
Communication from Kenneth deck, City Engineer, Re: the existing condition
of fire tower at the City Police Station and recommended that steps be taken to recon-
dition this tower, and on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by G. 1PI.Baker it was
ordered the new tower be installed next to the fire house at Garden and Pismo Streets at
the earliest possible date, construction to be under the supervision of the city engineer.
Communication from League of California Cities Re: Federal Funds for post -war
was referred to the Commissioner of Finance for investigation and report on motion of
R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan.
Report of the City Clerk for the month of May 1945 was ordered received and filed.
Report of the City Collector of uncollected city licenses for the April quarter
was referred to the Police Department for collection on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded
by R. P. Howell.
Matters pertaining to the City Park were allotted to Commissioner Fred L. Gist
on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by G. V-7. Baker,
Richard Harris, Attorney representing the San Luis Obispo Taxi Cab Owners Assn.
appeared before the City Council requesting permission for a taxi stand for the Mission
Cab Co. in front of the Greyhound Bus Depot, and on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by
G. 5!. Baker the Mission Cab Co. wus granted a temporary space of 20 ft, for taxi stand
' in front of Greyhound Bus Depot, said space to be marked off and designated by the Police
Department.
On motion of Fred L. Gist, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan it was ordered that
riack Bros. be ;;ranted reserve taxi stand a distance of 20 ft. in front of their place.

334 The application of'E. Whitaker for permit to build storeroom on Lot 4, Block
10 at a cost of $300 was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Fred L. Gist.
The application of Rita C. White for Pastry Shop at 638 Marsh St. was granted
on motion of Clyde T, O'Nan, seconded by R. P. Howell.
Application of Flor De Mexico for dance to be held on June 171 1945 and grant-
ing permission without a license was confirmed by the Council on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan,
seconded by Fred L. Gist.
The application of H. E. Small for registration as a Class "D" contractor to-
gether with Royal Indemnity Co. bond in the amount of $1000 and registrationfee of $25.00
received and on motion of Fred L. Gist, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan it was ordered that
the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration granted.

The transfer of license for the Polly Cafe at 412 Hip.uera Street from Uolleen
A. Whittle to Lee Darnell was granted on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by G.W. Baker.
Mayor Kennedy instructed Commissioner. of Public Works to submit a new Electric
and Plumbing Code at the next meeting or soon thereafter as possible.
Commissioner Howell was given authority to repair and replace park tables for
picnic grounds in Reservoir Canyon.
On motion of G. W. Baker, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, the meeting adjourned to
