Gist, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy Absent :.Clyde T. O'Nan The minutes of June 18th and 25th, 1945 were read and approved as read. The following building permits were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. tit. Baker: Peter Schwafel - Repair footing under front porch and construct new steps Pt. of Lot 2, Blk. 109 M. 7. Tract Cost L. L. Adams - Repair residence; Lot 10, Blk 6, ` +Jeills Addn. " Julius J. View St. between bhorro and Lincoln Streets was granted on motion of R. P..Howell, seconded by Fred L. Gist. The application of �Jm. Kneppel for Rooming House at 1018 Pacific St. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on motion of Fred L. Gist, seconded by G. ,'1. Baker. Transfer of license for Restaurant from Tex E. Davis, dba "Dad's Place" at 589 Higuera St. to Henery Janssen was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker. Communication from IT. S. Employment Service Re: Requesting the City of San Luis Obispo to paint the Municipal Bldg. for them. The request was denied on motion of G. --,J.Baker, seconded by Fred L.Gist. Communication from the Police Judge requesting part time clerk for the Judge's office was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investi- gation and report on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W.Baker. The following reports were ordered received and filed on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by G.W. Baker: I City Collector's report for the month of June 1945 Police Dept., 11 Claims against the city for the month of June 1945 were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the hlayor, on motion of B P.Hoviell, seconded by G.1.Baker. This being the time and place fixed by the Council as per published notice 1 dated June 13th and 14th, 1945 for receiving sealed bids for the improvement of Higuera, ;rarsh, Santa Rosa and Monterey Streets in the, City. of San Luis Obispo; the following is a list of all bids received which were publicly opened and read: Brown, Doko and 3aun - Total bid 449839.00 - certified check for 72500 attached. I The matter was discussed and on motion of Fred L. Gist, seconded by G.W.Baker it was ' referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer for investigation and report. Resolution No. 744 (New Series) - A Resolution establishing rate of fees or Dumping Privileges in City Dump was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, econded by G. 11. Baker upon the- :;following roll call vote: 398 Ayes: G.W.Baker, Fred L. Gist, R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy Noes: None Absent: Glyde T. O'Nan The following matters were held over: Petition of Church of Christ for sign at 100 Santa Rosa St. Petition of Clines Electric for Neon Sign for Baker and Roberts- Pacific and Higuera Sts. Communication from League of Calif. Cities 'application for Lodging House filed by Eric Wickenden The application filed by Mrs. Eyda F. Welsh for 80 ft. of sidewalk and repair retaining wall in front of Lot 4, Bllc 41 was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. 1. Baker, City Engineer, Kenneth Back, reported on the new steel fire alarm tower to be constructed at the rear of the fire department. The natter discussed and on notion of G. 11. Baker, seconded by R. P. Howell, it was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety and the Mayor, with power to act; work to be done under the supervision of the city engineer. J. N. MacLean submitted a report on delinquent taxes, listing 27 pieces of property. By common consent of the Council,the Mayor, Ralph C. Kennedy, appointed C. L. Smith as Chairman, J. W. Herbert and Commissioner Fred L. Gist as a committee and appraisal board, to appraise the properties listed. Commissioner of Finance was instructed to make an investigation regarding the cost on comprehensive public liability policy for the city of San Luis Obispo on motion of G. W. Baker, seconded by R. P.
