Gist, R. P. Howell, Ralph C.Kennedy, Clyde T. O'Nan Absent: None The minutes of July 2nd, 1945 were read and approved as read. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. Nielsen asking permission to break sidewalk and dig trench for the purpose of installing storm drain under sidewalk on Monterey St.} between Chorro and Morro St. was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Fred L. Gist; work to be done under the supervision of the city engineering department. The applications of the Southern Counties Gas Co. f or permit to install service on Essex Street between Buchon and Pismo Streets and on Higuera St. between Garden and Broad Streets were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. "W. Baker, with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineering Department. On motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by R. P. Howell, the folloowing appli- cations for business licenses were granted.: Economy Fountain - ( Clair J. Hamilton & Geo. S.Edwards) Lunch Counter,796 Higua ra St. Blue Bell Coffee Shop -( By Fred L. Rakeman) Restaurant, 978 Monterey St. The transfer of license of the Polly Cafe by Lee Darnell to A. J. Dill at 412 Higuera St., and transfer of the Richfield Service Station at 316 Higuera St. from Kathryn Babcock to Kendall H. Coleman was granted on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by G. Wesley Baker. Notification from the State Board of Equalization for "On Sale Beer" license from Rex E. Davis to Henry Janssen dba "Dad's Place" at 589 ftiguera St.was ordered received and filed. Communication from the State Board of Equalization re; use tax due the State on purchase of fire hose from the Bi- Lateral Fire Hose Co. was referred to -the City Attorney on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by Fred L. Gist. Com:r•unication received from Fred Watson as::ing to remove trees at 1421 Palm Street and from Rev. James Matthew Alley to remove two trees at 1411 Palm St.; same :�aere referred to the Commissioner of Public %Yorks, with power to act, on motion of Clyde T. The following; reports were ordered received and filed: Police Judge's report for the month of June, 1945 City Clerk's ' " " " 't " City Treasurer's report for the months of May and June, 1945. Claim in the amount of $3988.05 on the Withholding Tax Fund payable to the Collector of Internal Revenue for taxes withheld for the quarter ending June 30, 1945 was ordersd paid on motion of Fred L. Gist, seconded by G. W.Baker. This being the time and placed fixed by the Council as per published notice dated June 28th, 1945 for receiving bids for the Disposal of Garbage and rubbish in the City of San Luis Obispo, the following is a list of all Bids received, which were publicly opened and read: San Luis Garbage Co. by 0. Navoni et al Total bid of 215 per year - certified check of .;1000 accompanied the bid. It was moved by R..P. Howell, seconded by Fred L. Gist that the bid of the San Luis Garbage Co. in the amount of $1500 per year be accepted and that the contract be awarded to the San Luis Garbage Co. P. Howell, seconded by Fred L. Gist upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G.'d.Baker, Fred L. Gist, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Clyde T. O'Nan Absent: None Noes: None The bids on the job for the Improvement and repairs of Higuera, Marsh, Santa Rosa and Monterey Streets, which were referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer at the last meeting were again presented and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, the following resolution was adopted: Resolution No. 746 (New Series) - A Resolution awarding the contract for the Improvement of Higuera, Marsh, Santa Rosa and Ionterey Streets was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G. Vi. Baker, Fred L. Gist, R. P. Ito-.;gell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Clyde T. O'Nan Noes: None Absent: None On motion'of R.•P. ''Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, the City Engineer was instructed to iarite Brown, Doko and Baun, instriicting' them that the city intended to do the wore: on item 11 and 42 as outlined in the contract in the amount of $4550. Resolution No. 747 (New Series) - A resolution authorizing the Quit- Claiming by the City of all'its right, title and interest in certain parcels of real property heretofore erroneously deeded to the city for non - payment of street assessments: Said properties not having been included in the assessment districts on which said deeds to the city were based was passed and adopted oh motion of G. W. Baker', seconded by Clyde T..O'Nan upon the following roll call vote: -"-yes: G.; "i. Baker, Fred L. Gist, R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Clyde T. O'Nan Noes: None Absent: None The application of '.;rm. Kneppel for Lodging House license at 1018 Pacific Street was granted on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by R. P: Howell. Comrunication from Judge Jacl :son requesting part time clerk in the Police Court was ordered received and filed. The petition of the Church of Christ for permit to erect wooden sign at 100 Santa Rosa St. was granted on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by G. W. Baker. Petition filed by Clines Electric to hang Neon sign for Baker and Roberts t Pacific and Higuera Streets was granted on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by P. Howell; the sign to be hung in accordance with existing ordinance and under supervisi the engineering department. Communication from League of California Cities Re: Advance planning for on- Federal Public Works was ordered received and. filed. The application of Eric Wickenden for Lodging House at 1026 Chorro St. was ain held over. On motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by Gi W. Baker, it was ordered that he position of Park caretaker be established, said position to be under the supervision f the Commissioner of Finance and Revenue - salary to be $160 per month base pay as of y 16, 1945. On motion of Fred L. Gist, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, Fred Yuacha was ppointed caretaker of the city park.
