KEn nedy Absent: Fred L. Gist, Clyde T. O'Nan The minutes of August 6th 1945 were read and approved as read. The following building permits were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker: Ernest Whitaker - Storeroom; Block 10; Cost $ Albert Erratchuo - Renew roof on residence; Lot 12, Blk. 4, Norton Adda.'Cost Dr. E. A. French - Remodel res. Loyd - Repairs to bldg. Lots 11 & 129 Blk. 201A Dallidet ^ 175.00 The application of-Mason Bagley for permit to move bldg. in from out of town to Lots 1 -2 -3 Block 38 Phillips Synd. Addition was denied on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G.W. Baker. The application of the American Refrigerating Co. for permit to build a Processing Shed and Boiler House on Lots 3 & 4, Block 116B Reeds Addition at a cost of $11,000 was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act, on motion of G. W.Baker, seconded by'R. P. Howell. On motion of R. P. Howell; seconded by G. W. Baker, the following applications for sidewalk.and curbing were granted with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer and walks to conform with walks in the district: Enos V. Serpa- 165 ft. of curbing on the northerly side of Buchon St. between Buchon and Carmel St and Pismo St, Harry F.Wright- 50 ft. of curbing on the westerly side of Beach St. between Buchon and Pismo Streets. Gregg Soto-- 50 ft. of 5 ft. sidewalk and ramp for drivewayon the west side of Santa Barbara Ave. between High and Broad Streets J. L. Donaldson- 50 ft. of 5 ft. sidewalk , curb and gutter on the east side of Lawton St. between Caudill and Mitchell Drive. Ward I. Cook - 12 ft. of ramp for driveway at 547 Islay St. The petition filed by Carl G. Beck to remove grees from parkway at Murray and Park St. was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker. The following petitions were granted on motion o f.R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker; work to be done under the supervision of the city engineering department: Smee Plumbing Co. - To open trench on Upham St. between Chorro and Garden Stse to run sewer line. Southern Counties Gas Co. - To install service at 1826 Chor ro St. on South St. and on Price St. between Sandercock.and High Streets. The.application of JeanRoach for registration as Class "F" Contractor to- gather with U.S. Fidelity and Guaranty Co. bond in the amount of $200 and registration fee of $10.00 received and on motion of W. H. Brazil,seconded by R. P. Howell, it was ordered that the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration granted. The following transfer of licenses were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker: Transfer of Bill's Sandwich Shop at 850 Marsh St. from Vl. M. Wallace to Frank Yeary. Transfer of Perrot's Buvette from Paul Perrot to Fred Watson at 1011 Higuera St. 1 1 1 1 1 The transfer of license of the Union Oil Co. Service Station at 1308 Monterey 4 0 St. from W. Dickersen to W. 17. Barnes was granted on motionof R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker. Notification received from the 13tate Board of Equalization for transfer on "On Sale Beer and `Nine" and "On Sale Distilled,Dpirits" license from Paul Perrot at 1011 Higuera St. to Fred ' +7atson, dba Watson's Buvette "; same was ordered filed. The applications of L. A. Gragg at 296 Santa Rosa St. for Lodging House License and of John A. Proud at 1617 Santa Rosa St. were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G.W. Baker. ' The applications of•117m. C. Cerney dba Sport Cab Co. and of Aaron U. Cook dba Independent Cab Co. for Taxicab licenses were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker. The Merchandising Bond of F. H. McB Tools and Equip.) with Wm. C. O'Donnell and and accepted by the Council on motion of R. The communication from F. C. Kimball present location at 283 Higuera St. forward Be, 1131 Broad St. for Mdse. License (Garden Dr. R. 0. Pearman as security, was approved P. Howell, seconded G. W. Baker. requesting permission to move sign from to the corner of the same building was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W.Baker; work to be done under the super- vision of the Engineering Department and the existing Ordinance. The following letters were ordered received and filed on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker: Communication from Edward P. Joyce - Re: application for Building Inspector " from Mrs. R. M. Allen: Re;'position as Building Inspector City Clerks Report for the month of July, 1945 ' Communication from Willard Pratt, tendering his resignation to take effect.September 15th, 1945, and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker, resignation was, accepte The Council authorized and instructed the Clerk to return the certified check of Brown, Doko and Baun, in the amount of $2500, posted at the. time of placing bid. Communication from Green Bus Service, listing.change.in Bus Routes was referred.to the City Attorney for investigation and report on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. ;al. , Baker. Communication from A. V. Cline Re: condition of property at corner of North Broad and Murray Ave. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and City Engineer for investigation and report, on motion of G. W. Baker, seconded by R. P. Howell. Communication from San Luis Obispo Planning Commission Re: outlining organization meetings to date was ordered received and filed on motion of G. W. Baker, seconded by R. P. Howell; the City Clerk was instructed to notify the Commission of the appointment of H. J. Laird, The Group Insurance Plan outlined by the California l7estern States Life Ins. Co. was presented and explained t:: the Council by Jack Madison, representative, and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconddd by R. P. Howell, the matter wasreferred to the Commissioner of Finance and Commissioner of Supplies for study and report. Ed Boyle appeared before the Council in behalf of the War Memorial Committee to dis- cuss the proposed memorial for World War II veterans. He stated about $1000 has been raised to date through voluntary contributions. John Smee appeared before the Council to discuss the adoption of a Plumbing Code and was instructed to present a modified plan of the Standard Code at the next regular eting. 408 _Tile following petitions were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker. The following matters were held over: Application of G. F. Rhodes for Rooming House at 864 Higuera St. of L.-Laurent for Restaurant license at 998 Monterey .St. Communication from Mrs. Mary Ritchey Re: trees on Fig St. Discussion of Standard Building Code. Communication from Federal Public Housing Authority Re: Agreement Application of Eric Wickenden for Rooming House License The application of L. Laurent for City License for Mechanical Amusement Devices was granted on motion of G. W. Baker, seconded by R. P. Howell. Communication from State of California, Dept. of Public Works Re: equipment for sale was ordered received and filed. Petition of Clines Electric to install neon sign at 1001 Higuera St, was granted on motion of G. W. Baker, seconded by R. P. Howell, The 1945 -46 Tag Budget as presented by J. M. MacLean, was ordered adoptedr_. and filed in the City Clerk's Office on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G.W. Baker upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G. W. Baker, R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy Noes: None Absent: Fred L. Gist, Clyde T. O'Nan Ordinance No. 262 (New Series) - An Ordinance levying a tax for the current fiscal year 1945 -1946 upon all taxable property within the City of San Luis Obispo and fixing the rate of such tax was introduced and passed to print on motion of R. P,Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G. W._ Baker, R. P. Ho e.11, Ralph:C. Kennedy Noes: None Absent: Fred L. Gist, Clyde T. O'Nan On motion of G./W.
