Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Clyde T. O'Nan Absent: None The minutes of December 3rd and 10th were read and approved as read. On motion of.R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker, the following building permits were granted: 0. G. Pennington - Remodel inside of grocery store; Lot 1,, Blk 107,M.V.Tr.Cost$ 200.00 Minetti & Dockweiler - Remodel bldg. Lot 1, Blk 13, ^ 500.00 1 Four Smare Church - Bldg. to be moved from Block 47 outside city limits The following miscellaneous petitions were granted on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineering Department: Petition filed by Smee Plumbing Co. for permit to open trench for sewer at 1214 Broad St. 1 Petition of J. R. Rone for permit to excavate for Sewer Connection at 495 Chorro St. " of Smse Plumbing Co. for sewer connection at 158 Chorro St. The petition of Booth Bros. for permission to. pave portions of Lots 3 and 4. Block 29, Buckley Tract was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by G. W. Baker, as was also the petition of H. W. Takken to move fence ' forward along property lines Petition of Bud Rose Sign Service to hang metal sign at 306J Higuera St. was referred to the Commissioner-of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker. The following matters were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and, - Safety for investigation and report on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by F.L.Gist: Application of John E. Topp for Taxi License " of Gilbert Rask for Taxi License Transfer of License of Owl Club from Leon S.David to Julius Schwartz 1 On motion of Clyde T..O'Nan, seconded by.F.L.Gist, the following transfers were granted: Steve's Coffee Shop - 1050 Monterey St. from Steve Zegar to John D.Elliott Transfer of, Gold Room Bar - ) Gold Room Liquor Store ) at 897 Monterey St. from L.Borschkind and R.Bay Bee Hive Cafe ) to Ralph Germann Transfer of Associated Service Station at Marsh and Higuera St.from Louis Locati to Robert Osborne Notification received from the State Board.of Equalization for "On Sale Beer" license for Gin Gwock "Di,.and Gin Don You at 830 Palm St. was ordered filed on motion of ClydeT. O'Nan, seconded by G. W. Baker. 1. Communication received from Pacific Greyhound Lines,addressed tg Mayor Kennedy Re: Pony Express Stages, filing application with the Railroad Commission for a certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for bus line through San Luis Obispo was ordered received and filed on motion of F. L. Gist, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. Petition filed by Bee Hive Restaurant under date of December 12, 1945 requesting permission for a bus loading zone at 887 to 897 Monterey St. was granted on motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by F.L. Gist. ' Petition filed by property owners ( outside the city) along Johnson Ave. re- questing extension of water line on Orcutt Road was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by F.L.Gist. City Clerk's report for the month of November 1945 was ordered received and .filed on motion of F.L.Gist,.seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. - 439 Report of the City Collector showing uncollected licenses for Oct. 1945 quarter was referred to the Police Dept for collection. The applications for renewal of city.licenses for the January quarter were presented by the City Clerk and on motion of Clyde T..O'Nan, seconded by F.L.Gist, were ordered renewed. The following matters were referred to the Commissioner of Public Heglth and Safety , with power to act: Application of R. Lindblom and C.Payden for card table at 978 Monterey St. Transfer of Frank °s Cafe at 645 Higuera St. from Frank Jackson.to E.B.Lovall and Frank F. Dickey 1 On motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, seconded by R.P.Howell, the following applications for city licenses were granted as of January 1, 1946: R. C. Bruce -.dba R.C.Cab - Taxicab - 1590 Murray Ave. Wm. H. Nelson - " 12151 Buchon St. The application of W. F. Ross for permit to remove curbing and make a ramp drive for a distance of 60 ft. on the northerly side of Monterey stkeet between Murray and Buena Vista Ave. was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by F.L Gist; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineering Department. _The application of Ida S.,Gray and Edith-Nashlund for temporary building permit for addition to building on pant of Lot 18, Block 999 M:V: Tract, at a cost-of $500 was denied on motion of R.P.Aowell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. G.W.Baker voting "No". Pending further discussion on the Standard Plumbing Code the matter was again held over. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker, the City Clerk was in- structed to dra-w a warrant on the City Water Fund in the amount of $12,250.00 for rental ( payment No. 1) for use of ;cater supply line, reservoir and transmission lines as per lease dated January 1, 1945. ' Resolution No. 755 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the execution of an Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and The Federal Works Agency of the United States of America relating to the advancement by the latter to the City of the sum of $4000 for plan construction for a new City Hall, . was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by F. L. Gist upon the following vote: Ayes: G.W. Baker, F. L. Gist, R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Clyde T...O'Nan Noes: Nune Absent: None The City Clerk was instructed to write to the P & H Tree Surgery, of Los Gatos California Re: claim of $20 for damages to fence on Mrs. Pedrizetti's property caused by felling trees, the payment of warrant of $400 to P & H Tree Surgery pending disposition of the claim of.$20.00. Commissioner Clyde T. O'Nan presented for the Council's consideration, a copy of ' San Jose Ordinance governing and barring minors fvom entering places where intoxicating liquors are sold; after discussion, it was decided to take no action at.this time, pending results of enforcements at San Jose. On motion of Clyde T..O'Nan, seconded by R. P. Howell, it was ordered Carl ' Jenning be appointed Police Officer on 6 months probation period at base pay of $150. per moo as of December 17; 1945. On motion of Clyde T. O'Nan, weconded by G W. Baker, Commissioner O'Nan was given permission to have the old Fire Tower at rear of City Fall removed without cost to the city.
