HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/21/19462 City Hall, October 21, 1946 - 7:30 P. M. The City Council met in regular session; Mayor Ralph C. Kennedy presiding. Present: G.W. Baker,F.L.Gist, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Kline Nilliams Absent: None The minutes of Oct. 7th and Oct. 14, 1946 were read and approved as corrected. The following applications for sidewalk and curbing were granted on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineering Department: Harold Nielsen - 150 ft. of sidewalk curb and gutter on the East side of Osos St. between Walnut and Fig Streets Harold Nielsen - 150 ft. of sidewalk , curb and gutter on the west side off. Osos St. between T4lalnut and Fig Streets Harold Nielsen - 300 ft. of sidewalk, curb and gutter on the north side of `ialnut St. between O.sos and Morro Sts. Petition filed by James H. Murphy for sexier connection on the Aston Property was Franted on motion of R. P.Howell, seconded by Kline Vfilliums with provisiDn that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineering Department. It was moved by K1ineVlilliams, seconded by R. P. Howell that in the future all applications and petitions for sewer connections, street excavation, light and power pole installations be.issued and granted by the City Engineering Department and on motion of G. 'N. Baker, seconded by Kline Villiams it was ordered that all sign permits be issued and granted by the Building Inspector. The application of Anna Baxter for Restaurant License ( Dining Room) in the Andrews Hotel at 901 Osos St. was granted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by F. L.Gist. The Merchandising bond of Ruth Persson in.the amount of $200 with the U. S., Fidelity and Guaranty Co. as surety was received and on motion of F.L.Gist, seconded by G. W.Baker, the surety was accepted, bond approved and license ordered issued. t The transfer of license of Shell Cafe wa= referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. Communication from Charles Magner Re: condition of Humbert Ave. was referred to Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act, on motion of G. W. Baker, seconded by F. 1. Gist. Communication from Guido Santini submitting his application for position on the Police Force was ordered received an6 filed on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by F.L.Gist. Communication from "John Public" Re: Fire hazard at the Motel Inn was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, with power to act, on motion of R.P. Howell, sedonded by G. W. Baker. Communication and Sales Agreement from Vim Kalechman covering the Goldtree property and water rights was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for inves- tigation and report on motion of G. W. Baker, seconded by Kline Williams, Report of the City Clerk showing condition of funds for the month of Septmeber 1946 was ordered received and filed. Claim in the amount of $1395.75 drawn on the Withholding Tax Fund, payable to 1 the Collector of Internal Revenue was ordered paid on motion of F.L.Gist, seconded by G.V ?.Baker. The Bonds of D. R. Ochs and Allan R. Ochs-as principal and U.S.Fidelity and Guaranty Co. as surety was approved by the Council and the 14ayor was authorized to sign contract for repairs to the City Library on motion of F.L.Gist, seconded by Kline 'Ii i l l iams . 1 L 1 The contract document and specifications covering Sewer Plant.-Extension as prepared by Harry N Jenks were presented to the Council and on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Kline Williams the following Resolution was adopted: Resolution No. 775 (New Series) - A Resolution adopting Plans and Specifications for construction of Municipal Sewage Works Additions was passed and adopted upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G. ':1.Baker,F.L.Gist,R.P.Hovie11, Ralph C.Kennedy, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: None On motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Kline Williams the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for Bids for the contract on the Sewage Works Addition; Bids to be received up to 7:30 P.P. Nov. 18, 1946 at which time they will be publicly opened and read. The following sign permits were granted on motion of Kline +11illiams, seconded by F. L. Gist; work to be done under the supervision of the city engineering department; Permit No. 41 - Filed by Clines Electric- to hang sign at 947 -A Monterey St. Permit Igo. 42 - ' " it t�) hang sign at 678 Marsh St. The application of Arthur Salter for license for Pawnbroker at 974 -A Monterey St. was granted on motion of Kline 1,lil'_iams, seconded by G. `:d. Baker. The transfer of license of Mom's & Pop's from Calvin Ivy to Henry Holbrook for Restaurant and Lodging House was granted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by G.W. Baker . Resolution No.-776 (New Series) - A Resolution renewing Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and County of San Luis Obispo for Health Services was passed and n adopted on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by G. W.Baker upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G.1.Baker, R.P.Howell, Ralph C.Kennedy, Kline Williams Noes: None Fred L. Gist declining to vote On motion of Kline uI lliams, seconded by F.L.Gist, it was ordered that Harry L. Payton be appointed Police Sergeant as of Oct. 16, 19460 On motion of-Kline Williams, seconded by G. W.Baker, James Vaught was appointed Police Capt. and that his salary be made retroactive after his bond is filed and approved by the Council.
