City Hall, Thursday, May 22, 1947 - 7:30 P..
The City Council met in adjourned session; Mayor Timothy I. O'Reilly
presiding.
Present: G.�:V.Baker, 'Sm. 0. Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams
Absent: R.P. Hrnvell
Communication from Mrs. Grace Thornburgh Re: delinquent taxes on Lot 9,
Block C in Ivaymont Addition was referred to Commissioner Vim. 0. Hall for study and report
on motion of G.'r,T.Baker, seconded by Kline ';;illiams.
Communication from Capt. Clyde M. Thornhill Re: the recommendation of
Edward M. Andrez as Police Officer was orderedreceived and filed on motion of G. W.Baker,
seconded by Kline Williams.
The City Treasurer's report for the month of April, 1947 was ordered
filed.
The following transfer or city licenses were ordered granted on motion
of Kline Williams, seconded by G. W. Baker:
Golden State Hotel - 1109 Iviorro St. from J. F. Fitzpatrick to Jay B.Clark
Andrews Hotel Dining Room - from Ethel V.Venn to Morley King
Ordinance No. 284 (New Series) - An Ordinance providing for the sale
and exchange of certain real property owned by the City of San Luis Obispo for certain
real property o: -.,ned by Vera E.iaiossi, Arthur E. Miossi and Emelia Iviiossi was finally
passed on motion of Wm. 0: Hall, seconded by G.W.Baker upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams
Noes: None
Absent: R.P.Howell
Ordinance No. 285 (New Series) - An Ordinance amending Sections
33,35,49 and 58 of Ordinance No. 13 (New Series) entitled "Providing a system for the
assessment levy and collection of all city taxes in the City of San Luis Obispo ",
finally passed and adopted by the City Council on October 23, 1911, and adding Section
4112 to said ordinance was finally passed on motion of G.W. Baker, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall
upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. Ha11,Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams
Noes: None
Absent: R.P.Howell
Communication from Kenneth Becs, City Engineer, Re: State of California
using city streets for heavy hauling of highway material and suggesting the city to
establish the truck routes; the matter was referred to Commissioner R.P.Hoviell, with power
to act.
The Council adjourned to the City Recreation Bldg. at this time to proceed
with the Public Hearing on the "Dickason - Williams" matter. The above matter came before
the Mayor and City Council; the proceedings were continued until May 29th, 1947 at 10
o'clock A.M. at which time Mr. Dickason will be represented by counsel.
On motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, the City Clerk was
instructed to call for quotations on approximately 2000 bbls of road oil; same to be
opened on June 2, 19470
City Clerk was instructed to notify Douglas & Holdredge, Architects,
to be present at the next meeting, June 2nd, 1947 Re: Uew City Hall discussion.
The City Clerk was instructed to write Mr. George Stephans, requesting
his presence at the next meeting, June 2, 1947, to discuss the Resolution presented
the Council relative to National Housing problems.
