City Hall, Lionday July 7, 1947 - 7:30 P. id.
The City Council met in regular session; Mayor Timothy I. O'Reilly presidiig.
Present: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, R.P.Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly
Absent: Kline i °;illiams
The minutes of the oreviuus meeting were approved.
The following applications for City licenses were referred to the Commissioner
of Public Health & Safety for investigation and report:
Ray Chong Restaurant dba "Chong's Cafe" at 798 Palm St.
Jean Martin's Restaurant , 412. Higuera St.
Helga 0. Taylor & C.C. Oueley dba, Redwood Tree Cafe at 1254 Dilonterey St.
On motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, the following applications for
transfer of city licenses were granted:
Battan Grocery from Angel Lagao to Tony Estocio - 136 Higuera 3t.
�ilveira Grocery from Frank P. Silveira to Frank P.�ilveira Jr. - 890 Mill St.
Culligan Soft Water Service from R. H. Stringfellow,A.C.Strinfellovi, R.3.•Stringfellow
to Fred J. Hurst and Marvin Helfert at 1331 Murray Ave.
The following reports were ordered received and filed:
City Collector's Report for the month of June, 1947

Communication from Dr. Howard B. Kirtland tendering his resignation as Chairman
of the City Planning Commission was presented to the Council, and on motion of G.W.Baker,
seconded by Wm. C. Hall, it was moved that the resignation be accepted with regrets.
Communication from J. G. Hibbard, Chairman of the Public Morals and Safety
Committee of theSan Luis Obispo-County 1947 Grand Jury together with a proposed ordinance
prohibiting the possession of coin operated machines and providing penalties for the
violation thereof was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for inves-
tigation and report.
Communication from the Planning Commission regarding the purchase of the propert
known as the Paiaraola property fronting 97 feet on Palm St. and 150 ft: on Morro St. and
suggesting the City Council take such steps that are necessary to acquire said property
without further delay was held over for discussion at the next meeting.
Communication from the Deluxe'Cab Co. asking for a taxi zone at 1027 Morro St.
in front of Takken's Shoe Store was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safet
for investigation and report on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Iffm. 0. Hall.
Claims against the City for the month of June, 1947 were ordered paid, subject
to the approval of the heads of the various Departments and the Mayor, on motion of Vim.
0. Hall, seconded by G.W.Baker.
The following matters were again held over:
Application to transfer city license of the Deluxe Cab Co. from Reba I. Smith to Ilo J.
Raymond Munoz.
Communication from Daphne M. Graham protesting a taxi zone at 1029 Morro St. 1
On motion of vim. 0. Hall, seconded by'G.W. Baker the City Attorney was instru
to amend the City existing Traffic Ordinance No. 122 making a 30 minute limit in the down-
town district.
By common consent of the Council, Commissioner of Public Works, R.P.Howell was
authorized to investigate and obtain the price asked on the Greenleaf property on Garden
St. between Pacific and Pismo Streets.
Mayor O'Reilly reappointed Miss Fay Turner a member of the Park, Playground
and Recreation Commission for a 5 year period . The appointment was approved by the
Council on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by R.P.Howell.
It was moved by G. W. Baker, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, that the Fire Chief be
authorized to attend the Fire Prevention School on July 28 -29 -30 at U.C.L.A. at Los Angeles.
